To help you make friends with Merimbula before you visit, we've included a few helpful and fun things you should know about the area. Enjoy!
Merimbula, this beautiful coastal town, is located between Sydney and Melbourne. If you get a hostel in Merimbula, there is something for everyone to do, from the beach to hiking -- there's even an amusement park with a roller coaster.
Your options for Merimbula hostels will be located in town, across the bridge in a part of town locals call Fish Pen. For the beach-goers, there are a number of options for quiet, lazy days in the sun, or some great waves for surfing. Bar Beach, a must-do when in town, is a small beach located at the northern entrance of the lake where you are out of the wind and into the crystal clear water. You can snorkel around the rocks and eat at the small, seasonal snack shack on the beach.
A short drive out of town is Magic Mountain, a small amusement park with a roller coaster, some fun water slides, go karts, and even a Jurassic Park tour. There is a twin cinema if you get a rainy day and there is also a game arcade named Top Fun, which you can't miss. It is located at the top of town with a giant golf ball on a post to advertise its mini golf. Also inside is a four-lane bowling alley, multiple arcade games, and even laser tag. The town has a number of restaurants and shops to keep everybody happy, especially those who love seafood -- the local oysters from the lake are a specialty. From the lake to the beaches and friendly locals, this town is a must on your east coast expedition!
