Located in the region of Piedmont, Italy, Carru is not far from the famous capital city of Rome. It is a small town in the province of Cuneo and is notable for its part in the passage of Napoleon and his troops. It sits relatively close to the coast, and is a rural, rustic part of Italy, a quaint little countryside town.
As many destinations in Italy do, Carru will almost certainly give you the quintessential Italian experience. It is a sunny place, perfect for a retreat away from the rest of the world, and the locals are friendly and welcoming, ready to tell you stories about “the blue lady”, the ghost of a lady who was mysteriously shot, who haunts the castle at specific times. Folklore will make this town all the more charming, as it is very picturesque, and has the feel of a fairy tale village about it.
Because of this, the views from some of the hostels in Carru are incredible, and make sharing a room with other people worthwhile. Hostels in the town are guest house style, and although they are in classic looking buildings, most hostels are refurbished with a modern look. A hostel in Carru, because it is a little off the beaten track, will be very affordable in comparison to hostels in other cities in Italy. All hostels are in the centre of the town so are easily accessible.
Carru is a great place to stay in order to go on day trips to other larger Italian destinations without breaking the budget. Transportation links are good as long as you have the right time table, and you can see a large part of Italy without travelling too far. However Carru is a lovely destination in its own right, perfect for a relaxing trip away from it all.
