Soul Backpackers Barcelona Hostel Reviews

The Location

You will find Soul Backpackers on the first floor of a beautiful old building. It is located on Diputacio, a long, easy to find street in the Eixample area. The metrostation is just around the corner and a larger supermarket also. 24h-shops are within 2 minutes walking distance.

It's sort off right in the middle off everything you want to see. Walt to the old city takes 5 min.

To the Las Ramblas, Plaa Catalunya, Arc de Triomph, Bus station north, Sagrada Famlia and Casa Batll all takes 10-15 min walks (in different directions).

The Barcelona Zoo or le Cathedral: about 30 min walk. And last but not least, the beach and /or harbour will take about 45 min walking.

Off course metro's will take you everywhere fast but what a waste that would be to look around in this fantastic city!

Rooms and Bathrooms

There is a double room, and there are two 4-bed mixed dorms, a 6-bed mixed dorm and a 10-bed mixed dorm. Rooms aren't big but certainly specious enough. High ceilings and tiled floors give them a nice ambiance. The bunkbeds have good matresses and clean linnen. For each bed you'll find a big locker, but you have to bring your own padlock. Rooms are cleaned every day.

There are two toilets and three showers, they are a bit old, but cleaned twice per day. The sinks are very small. Also 2 off the showers are really narrow. Worth to wait for the one bigger shower. Also the showers are closed from midnight till 07.00 in the morning.

Common Spaces

The kitchen is big enough and has everything you need. There is one stove so when it's crowded you might have to wait. There is a large common area with a large table where there is room for everybody to eat. Also there is is another with sofa's to chill. There is a large outside terrace. Here you can all enjoy dinner together or go for a cigarette.

Location is absolutely perfect, the building is nice and the staff is friendly.

There is a 24 hour reception so there is always somebody available when needed.

THe hostel is especially nice because off the size: it's not to crowded and still there are plenty off people to meet. They try to keep hours from midnight till 07.00 silent so that you can catch a good night off sleep. It's absolutely good value for money.

Good location and helpful staff, but facilities are basic

The location is excellent, in a nice neighbourhood, not far from Catalunya square, and close to night life. Reception is very helpful. The bathrooms are pretty basic with only one wash basin in the hostel having hot water. There is not much of a vibe here because the common area is small, with no bar. But the price is good, and this is an ok place for a night or two.

Very wonderful place to stay!

I liked the fact that there was a kitchen in the hostel. Additionally, the staff was very friendly, easy to talk to, and helpful.

Really cool in general!!

I thought that the hostel was really nice! Really liked it. In my opinion, the only thing that could be better was the information about parking, bars, discos, places. In my opinion a person should know a little bit of everything about the city to "try" to help everyone's taste. Other than that ... awesome place!

We stayed there in the end of july '08 and it was great to be there! the staff is very friendly, the rooms and the bathrooms are very clean! it's in walking distance from las ramblas and the city centre. it's really a great place to stay! there is free internet and huge DVD collection! it's not a party backpacker, which we enjoyed very much!

Amazing -- very friendly and clean!

The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. It is extremely clean and everything advertised was better than expected. Highly recommended!

This hostel is very very nice! Safe area (but near Plaza de Catalunia), great rooms, clean, very good breakfast. The owner works at the hostel too and knows everything about Barcelona. i would strongly recommend this place to stay.

Raffaella and Andrea

An extremely nice and comfortable place to stay. There is a nice atmosphere, nice travelers, it's very convenient and in a safe area. You can leave your things in the room unlocked and nobody takes any of your things! The staff are really helpful and the owners work here themselves. They seem very involved in the hostel and take care of it very well.

Hostel has a beautiful terrace and the location is great! There was only one toilet which was a bit uncomfortable.

Best value for location I could find!! Everything was very nice and clean, having an outdoor terrace was a great bonus. Only inconvenience was no showering after midnight since that is when I normally shower after being out all day but I just had to wait until morning.

Had a great stay. A little more run down than the pictures show but not a problem. Great location.

Perfect location, amazing cleaning and very friendly staff. The only thing I did not like it is that the showers, kitchen and terrace is closing at midnight

Very good place to stay especially for solo female travellers who arent looking for a party hostel. Clean and has a nicely stocked kitchen, friendly and quiet people in dorms. Staff were friendly. Location is not too far away from anything. The terrace was very nice outside.

I had a really great experience here! The location is great, 3 minute walk to girona station. Very close to supermarkets and places to eat. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, they make sure the rooms are comfortable and clean and are always cleaning the facilities. The showers get super hot and super cold and dont have a button you have to constantly push like other hostels. It is a small hostel so it is a more cozy environment. There is a nice terrace that you can sit on and the kitchen is well ma

Amazing place! Great showers, nice beds, fully equipped kitchen. The staff is a 10/10!

Really quiet and calm hostel, very friendly staff and helpful. Would stay again

Great place for a few days, friendly staff and we walked within 30 minutes to main touristic points.

Bed: The best part was the comfy pillow and bed with a curtain.

Staff: They were helpful.

Facilities: Good Wi-fi, well-equipped kitchen.

Cleanliness: The hostel was clean, but dingy from age.

Security: We felt safe in the hostel, but walking nearby the hostel once it started to get dark didn't feel as safe. Also, there was no way to lock the lockers in the room.

Noise: Our room was pretty quiet, but it was just beside reception, so the doorbell and phone did wake us up a few times.

Very nice and clean hostel. Great location. Only downside is how thin the walls are. You can hear a leaking shower tap while sleeping in your room. Worse if someone decides to take a shower very late. It sounds like they are right next to you, and it definitely wakes you up. So in my case, you couldnt sleep until every single person is finished using washroom. Plus a door bell at any possible time of day or night and a person running to get it makes all the floors shake.

Very nice hostel! Very clean and the staff was super helpful!

Not the most luxurious hostel I stayed in but it has a friendly atmosphere because there are only a few rooms and you can meet all the travelers. The receptionists are friendly and can give you nice suggestions where to go and what to see. I think I would visit this place again.

I liked this hostel, very calm atmosphere and staff.

It is situated in the centre. The next time I will stay here )

Best hostel Ive been to in Europe so far. Very calm and quiet, great place to get a goodnight sleep, beds are comfortable and great to have the curtains. Staff are so kind and Marco helped me so much! Great hostel.

Good location, happy just me and my friend was in the room but It was noisy and smelly, not clean.

The hostel has a good, central location. Bathrooms seem a bit worn down and are very small (I could not fit my hands into the tiny sinks). Most showers and toilets are in stalls and tightyou wont have much privacy, unless you get one in an extra room. Towels next to the sinks are sharedI hope they change them often.

Staff and most guests didnt wear masks in the hostel so I felt pretty insecure during my stay. I wouldnt recommend staying there until the pandemic is over.

Im going to say something I wish someone else did! There is bed bugs and its really infested. I hate to put the hostel on blast but this can ruin lives and peoples livelihoods! Spent so much money & my holiday dealing with this & the least they couldve done was refund me for my two night stay. They didnt. Wish I never came here but it is what it is. Bed bugs can be found everywhere even in the most fanciest hotels, point is what do they do when they find out they have it? Disappointing.

My stay at soul backpackers was amazing! I stayed for two nights, the staff team is really nice and tries to help wherever they can, the location is perfect: the hostel is located like five to ten minutes to the Sagrada, so very central but at night it's very quiet so you get enough sleep!

The rooms are clean and not that big, I stayed In a four bed dorm, with personal lockers and security codes at the dormroom door.

Whenever I go back to bcn, I would sleep at soul backpackers!

Great hostel, had a really chill vibe with nice communal spots. Would recommend if youre looking for a relaxed hostel

The Hostel was opened 14 years ago in a tipical building in L'Eixample. The ceilings and floors are original. It's in a safe area, near everywhere. It's clean, small and quiet. Nice atmosphere. Kitchen and living room with TV and DVD and films to be watched. We have got a nice terrace to relax or sunbathe. The bedrooms are spacious and well aired. We keep the hostel very quiet at night so, if you are looking for a good rest, this is the place.

Location and Contact

Bus or train from the airport to Plaza Cataluña and then walk for 15 min. or take the metro (green line) to Passeig de Gracia and walk for 10 min. The nearest metro stop is Girona L4 but the green one is more convenient.
