Upon entry, the staff of Barcelona Central Garden Hostel are very helpful. They will sit you down for a good fifteen minutes and talk you through all the main attractions of Barcelona to help you plan your trip. They are patient and nice, and this provides a valuable starting point for your stay. Breakfast is not provided, however there are many places where you can get cheap food (relative to Western Europe) such as the diner downstairs.
The Location
Central Garden is located a ten-minute walk away from the famous Las Ramblas, the busiest shopping street in Barcelona. Finding the hostel can be slightly tricky, especially if you are not using GPS. There is only a small sticker with the hostel's name on the door, so it is easy to walk past if you are searching for a large sign.
You may choose to take a leisurely stroll to the beach and Gothic Quarter, or use can use the well-connected metro system to see all the touristic sites. Central Garden is also located within walking distance to many bars and restaurants if you choose to experience the nightlife in Barcelona. The Sagrada Família is a 15 minutes walk away. For getting to the beach, it takes you around 15-20 minutes as well. The metro is the easiest way here,
Rooms and Bathrooms
The beds are not the most comfortable for sleeping. They squeak when you move, and you can sometimes feel the bed springs pushing through. However, if you have had a busy day exploring the sights of Barcelona, you should have no problem falling asleep. Cleanliness of the rooms is adequate without being superb, though this may depend on roommates.
There are multiple bathrooms available, and they are very clean and spacious. There are mops in case the floors are wet from showering. However, the showers do feel a little confining and the lighting for some showers could be better.
Common Spaces
The hostel has a very nice lounge and outdoor garden area, and these areas are quite social at night. You will find that most guests gather in these areas at night, so it can be busy and difficult to get a seat. The common areas give the hostel a very homey feel. There is a small kitchen which has all the basic necessities.
One of the highlights of the hostel are the events, which are held a few times a week. This will involve a staff member taking you out for tapas or to a flamenco show. The cost is not cheap, but it is a good chance to experience Barcelona culture and meet your fellow travelers.
Summary
Barcelona Central Garden is a cozy hostel with a homey atmosphere. Rooms are not the most comfortable, but the staff are amazing. Although it is not a party hostel at all, the events held by the staff give you a good chance to socialize and experience Barcelona culture.

Location and Contact
Location
• We are located at Roger de Lluria 41, Principal floor (1st floor), between Diputacio & Consell de Cent streets. The hostel has a black door with iron bars and glass.
• The building displays a small white & orange sign with Hostel logo “BCGâ€Â. The buzzer is on the left side.
• Tips: The best way to move around Barcelona is to buy a T-10 Card (10 journeys for around 10€). This pass is valid on the airport train, metro & buses and can be shared by a group of people as long as it’s validated for all passengers travelling with it.
• Street Names: Most streets names are located on the corner of building facades. Some of the names may differ depending on whether they are in Spanish or Catalan (eg. Passeig de Gracia/Paseo de Gracia). Carrer means street.
• 1. AIRPORT to CITY by TRAIN (5am to 11:38pm)
• One way ticket: Around 4€ - Or 1€ if you use the T-10 pass
• From Terminal 1: Take the shuttle bus to Terminal 2 (free of charge), and then follow the instructions below.
• From Terminal 2: Take the train to the city center (Paseo de Gracia Station). Buy the ticket before you get on the train either from the machine or ticket office (we recommend to buy the T-10 pass). Get off at the fourth stop, “Paseo de Gracia Station'. Try to exit at Roger de Lluria @ Arago. In case it is closed, exit at the corner of Pau Claris @ Aragón, where you will find Farmacia Alibes. In any case, get to the corner of Roger de Lluria @ Arago de Lluria (where you will find a 'modern' beige building)- Turn right on Roger de Lluria street and walk less than 2 blocks until you find our hostel on your right (number 41)
• 2. AIRPORT to CITY by AEROBUS (6am to 1am - aprox 6 Eur)
• The Aerobus departs from each Terminal (tickets onboard). Get off at Plaza Catalunya. With the large department store El Corte Ingles on your right, walk uphill on Paseo de Gracia for 1 block. Turn right at Gran Via (multi-lane road) and walk 2 blocks until Roger de Lluria. Turn left and walk 1 block uphill. You will see the hostel on your left (soon after crossing Diputacio Street)
• 3. AIRPORT to CITY by TAXI
• Around 28€ from Terminal 2 and 30€ from Terminal 1 (1€ fee applies for each luggage). Check the rate with the driver before you get in the taxi!
• 4. AIRPORT to City by Night BUS (from 10pm to 5am)
• Take Bus 16 or 17 to Plaza Catalunia. Then follow instructions described in point 2. (T10 card accepted on board).
• 5. From SANTS Station
• Take one of these trains R2 - R14 - R15 - R16 in the direction of 'Estació de Franca' - You could also catch the R11 train in direction to 'Figueres' (you can use the T-10 pass). Get off at the first stop, “Passeig de Gracia Station', only 4 minutes journey. Try to exit at Roger de Lluria @ Arago. In case it is closed, exit at the corner of Pau Claris @ Aragón, where you will find Farmacia Alibes. In any case, get to the corner of Roger de Lluria @ Arago de Lluria (where you will find a 'modern' beige building)- Turn right on Roger de Lluria street and walk less than 2 blocks until you find our hostel on your right (number 41)
