Oasis Backpackers' Hostel Reviews

In the beautiful city of Granada, Oasis Backpackers' Hostel offers cozy accommodation for a budget price.

The Location

Oasis Backpackers' Hostel is located in the Albaicin, the old neighborhood of Granada, with many Middle Eastern shops and restaurants nearby. The streets can be a bit maze-like, but the hostel website provides directions.

The bus station is a bit far to walk, but the local bus will take you to the cathedral, which is within a five-minute walk to the hostel. The Alhambra is a fifteen-minute (uphill) walk from the hostel. Many restaurants, shops, and markets are within minutes of the hostel, and almost everything else is accessible on foot. The city is very pedestrian-friendly, but buses and taxis are also available.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Because the hostel is in an older building, the rooms are unique, avoiding the cookie-cutter feel of some hostels. The rooms are decent and don't feel cramped, and some of the dorm rooms consist of several smaller rooms, which adds to privacy. The bunk beds are sturdy enough, though the ladders can be a bit awkward to climb. While each bed does not have an individual outlet or reading light, there are plenty of outlets in the rooms. The lockers in the rooms are large, but locks are not provided. Some of the rooms have a small refrigerator as well.

The bathrooms are en suite. Some of the bathrooms are quite small, with tight space in the shower, whereas other bathrooms are more spacious. Water pressure is also variable among the bathrooms, but hot water is consistent. There is a hook to hang a towel, and a caddy in each shower. Each room also has a hair dryer. The rooms and bathrooms are cleaned daily.

Common Spaces

The hostel has a kitchen with a stove, microwave, toaster, pots and pans, dishes, and utensils. Breakfast is served (for a fee) in the kitchen from 9 a.m. to noon, with coffee and tea available throughout the day. The kitchen is available for guests to use. Guests tend to congregate in the kitchen, the nearby sitting area, or in the small bar (with a decent happy hour for drinks), but the highlight is the roof terrace. With views overlooking Granada, the terrace is a great place to meet people and hang out. Wi-Fi works throughout the hostel.

The hostel offers frequent activities, including free afternoon walking tours, trips to the Sierra Nevada, and pub crawls, which are good ways to meet other travelers and learn about the city.

Summary

Oasis Backpackers' Hostel is a great choice for a stay in Granada. With its good location, decent facilities, and opportunities for socializing, it's a good fit for a budget backpacker.
