Welcome to Eastpax - the first backpacker hostel in the Hohenschönhausen district of East Berlin.
We offer twins and dorms from 4 to 8 beds, free Wi-Fi, hot showers, guest kitchen, free maps and rent-a-bike.
Our property itself as the whole neighborhood was part of a restricted military area, operated by the Ministry of State Security of East Germany, (MfS), also known as the Stasi. Thanks to the secretive nature the district where the facility was located was left blank on official maps. Since the early 1990s the Hohenschönhausen Memorial invites visitors to the former prison complex.
Eastpax hostel is in a vintage office building from the 1960ies, built by prisoners. 2014 fully renovated we now offer 80+ beds on 3 floors with shared facilities.

Location
• Please keep in mind that Berlin is a large city, spending one hour in the public transport for a single trip is more or less common.
• From Airport Tegel (TXL) take bus BUS TXL until station Spandauer Str./Marienkirche. Change there to Tram M5, direction Zingster Str. Leave at station Freienwalder Str. and walk our street 600 meters eastbound. Total time will be 70 minutes.
• From terminal Airport Schönefeld (SXF) walk to station and take local train S9 direction Pankow until station Landsberger Allee. Change there to Tram M5, direction Zingster Str. Leave at station Freienwalder Str. and walk our street 600 meters eastbound. Total time will be 60 minutes.
• From Main Central Station (Hauptbahnhof or Hbf.) take lokal train S-Bahn in direction east to station Alexanderplatz. Change there to Tram M5, direction Zingster Str. Leave at station Freienwalder Str. and walk our street 600 meters eastbound. Total time will be 40 minutes.
• From Central Bus Terminal (ZOB) walk 200 m to local train station Messe Nord/ICC and take the circle line (clockwise) to station Landsberger Allee. Change there to Tram M5, direction Zingster Str. Leave at station Freienwalder Str. and walk our street 600 meters eastbound. Total time will be 50 minutes.
• All vehicles run frequently, during the nights the service is limited to 30-minute intervals or sometimes less. Tickets available from drivers or vending machines, change needed.
