St Christopher's Berlin Alexanderplatz Reviews

It's close to central Berlin, located in a residential area where not much action happens. A subway stop (Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz) is immediately across the street. Breakfast is extra and served at a restaurant on street level. The rooms are located above through a locked entryway door. The reception is open 24 hours.

Smoking is allowed in rooms so this easily could be a definite deterrent to non-smokers because the rooms aren't easily ventilated. Be warned as some people specifically search this out just so they can smoke in their rooms and be comfortable.

The reception/commons room offers an internet terminal and drinks. Bathrooms and rooms are well looked after. Modern music plays in the commons area, typically dance/techno. The hostel has a smaller atmosphere with only 80 beds. This hostel does not wrench of smoke, but its presence is apparent.

The perfect hostel for young people

The best hostel I visited ever. If you are young this is your hostel, at night, the bar is a perfect place to meet people, you can share your table with others and enjoy live music. The rooms are upstairs, so the noise is not a problem and you have your own light, plug and locker but the bath is out of the room but it works good. You have a complete breakfast and also there're good meals, so if you are a traveler and you want to rest and meet the real Berlin, this is your place.

Large, but with character

St. Christopher's Inn Berlin manages to avoid the pitfalls of most hostels its size. The staff are extremely nice, and will go out of their way to help you out. The common areas are maximised for social interaction, and the bar downstairs attracts not just hostelers, but locals, expats and others. The beer is cheap, the food is good, and there is a pretty extensive free breakfast each morning. Centrally located right next to alexandrplatz and a ubahn station. The rooms are nice(although the biggest one is designed rather antisocially) and each bunk has lots of space, power and a curtain. Only things keeping this hostel from a perfect score are the lack of quiet common areas and lack of a kitchen. Come here for the party, and you will not be disappointed.

Corporate Organization

Everything was organized well and comfortable. Waking up for the free breakfast is a little difficult otherwise staff was friendly and there is a bar right there.

Rooms and facilities were great, staff were poor.

Beds, showering facilities were fine. Staff were generally very rude. Arrived in a large group and they made us all feel unwelcome and acted as if they expected us to cause trouble. A friend had a complaint regarding the food and the way the staff handled it was incredibly rude and condescending and was probably the worst customer service I have experienced. Not impressed.

St Christopher's Inn - Berlin is very similar to others in its chain across Europe. Breakfast is free, the common area is a bar, there is no kitchen, and the rooms are spacious.

The Location

This hostel is steps away from a subway stop -- you can reach anywhere in the city the metro goes. It is about a forty-minute subway ride from the bus station and a ten-minute ride from the train station. It is possible to walk into downtown Berlin, but it would take at least half an hour.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The dorm rooms have electronic locks and a few small in-room lockers, but not enough for everyone in the room to have their own locker. The lockers are large enough to fit a laptop and a small purse, but not large enough for luggage. The beds are bunked and there are several options for number of beds in the room. The bedrooms are large and there is plenty of space for luggage on the floor without tripping over it.

There are gender-separated bathrooms on each floor, with several stalls for toilets and several stalls for showers. These are just large enough to close the door, but not large enough to change in.

Common Spaces

The main common space is the bar on the ground floor and since it is open to guests not staying at the hostel, it is often crowded. There is a loft area above the bar with a pool table, several couches, and a TV, but it is not quiet due to the bar below. There are also pay lockers in this area as well for luggage storage. This is a very social hostel since the only common area is a bar and is lots of fun when there is a good crowd present. Guests are mostly tourists or backpackers and are young and looking for a fun night out. Note, there is no quiet common area space. The only way to get away from the noise of the bar is to head back to the bedrooms.

This hostel is big and loud and fun. It's a party hostel and caters to the younger backpacker crowd. Breakfast is provided for free in the morning and the bar has great happy hour specials during the week for both food and drink.

Extraordinary atmosphere, beautiful, and very kind people. That are the most important things to make a hostel a nice hostel. The rest is less important, although that rest was also ok. I don't had any problems with the food, the shower, the bed. The only critical note I can mention is the beer. But that's not the fault of the bar staff. I just recommend the owner(s) of the hostel to import some Belgian beer, because that's the only beer which may be called beer.

Smoking in the foyer and computer area sucked. The TV room was ok, and it was a pretty social kind of a hostel. The kitchen was pretty tiny and it did not have many facilities, but they did do your dishes for you!!! Nice modern rooms, etc. The showers did kind of block up though (not just one or two of them either!!). A good-enough spot to throw your bags down for a while.

Great place. There are lots of young people who are ready to party, after they have drunk some beers in the hostel. Staff are very helpful. No curfew or lockout. 24-7 service.

Staff, vibe, and the location were great. Note that there is one flight of stairs before you get to the elevator level if you have heavy bags/accessibility needs. Dorm room was spacious but had the old school creaky metal bar bunks with no curtains. The bathroom was a bit gross, the shower was over a bath which did not drain properly and filled up as you showered. Probably wouldn't stay again despite the great location.

Nice hostel, nothing flash but comfortable. Social side was great

I felt like this hostel was a bar first and a hostel second. I think it would be a great hostel if youre looking to party but I wasnt and mostly wanted somewhere quiet to unwind but this was not the place for that. Its close to major Berlin attractions though which is a bonus but it is just a gross dirty hostel for young partyers. I really hated the women showers and a clean shower is important to me. Bad hostel experience but I shouldve booked a quieter hostel.

No se preocupan por hacer limpieza, yo llegue a mi habiatacion dondw haba basura, me fui de ah y esa basura segua ah aunque ya todos los del cuarto haban cambiado

Super nice

Great atmosphere around the hostel, the bar downstairs is a great way to meet other people travelling. Lovely staff working and very cheap breakfast. One downside is there is no curtains on the beds, and the rooms are very hot, and loud at night due to the bar being downstairs.

Alexanderplatz was a great place to meet people with cheap drinks from the hostel bar and cool people! Hostel itself has okay facilities and good location.

Amazing location and a very comfortable bed especially with the curtains for privacy. The showers and toilets are really clean and seem like they are clean regularly. The only issue we had we that the power in our room went out at midnight so we could charge our phones for our alarms to get up the next morning. But that's really not that big of a deal, great hostel!

I had such an amazing time staying at this hostel. The bar and downstairs area was the best part. Location was great with the tube being right across the street. However, the best part of my experience is the people that I was able to meet. Everyone was so friendly and I made some great memories on my trip to Berlin.

I paid a higher price than I wouldve liked but it was worth it. Book earlier than I did to pay less.

So east to meet people at the bar downstairs, good food and good deals. Great location for shopping, transit, nightlife, and museums. Curtains are dark so I could sleep in and not have it be bright at 6am. Clean facilities, saw people cleaning each morning. Friendly staff. Also has key card access, not physical key which I prefer. Relatively sound proof as well, overall great experience.

Very well located. All basic requirements were met although there was black mold in the mens showers. Otherwise the stay was decent.

Definitely the best St. Christophers weve stayed at so far. Property was clean, efficient, and well located in Berlin. Would definitely stay again!

Nice hostel in a central location and athmosphere was good. However, the cleanliness could be improved. The carpets covering the hallways and dorm rooms were dirty and had random splotches on them. Especially in the hallways it was clear that people had spilled something on the carpets and some even looked like old puke stains. The cleaners were cleaning the showers in the mornings so that at one point both female showers had cleaners cleaning them at the same time.

The place was very clean, close to some great places to out and the staff were great. My only complaint would be that there is no kitchen to cook in

Would recommend this hostel! Great location, close to a lot of bars etc! Also close to a train station which made it easier getting around looking at the more tourist places

When I arrived i was assigned a bed with someone in it. I had to go up and down the stairs 4x with heavy bags after traveling all day, and then having to switch rooms the next day as well into a room that was unprepared and required cleaning and sheet changes, instead of me being in the same room for my 2 night stay. I was provided free breakfast, which i couldn't even use because the window to eat was too early. The walk to the rooms a little cumbersome through the crowded bar and noisy.

Really good value

Lovely staff

Great atmosphere

Really good, nice staff and was in peak season so was easy to meet people, was just before the heatwave so not sure how it is in the heat but I was fine

I really loved this place and would recommend this to anyone looking for a very clean, maintained, safe and right in the middle of the city hostel! The U-Bahn was direct in front of this hostel, so it was really good connected to every place. The rooms were clean, there were individual charging sockets right beside each person's bed. So no fighting or even queuing up to charge your devices. The bed linens and pillows were clear and the mattresses were super comfortable!

LOVED this hostel. Maybe a bit overpriced but the social atmosphere was amazing, bar was huge. They had food 25% off for people staying there. Right next to a tram stop. Staff was very fun and helpful too! 2 for 1 drinks all night also

What You Get

This is the newest St Christopher's Inn which means it has the great local feel, a free breakfast and free linen. Even better though – you also have a vibrant Belushi's bar downstairs and the promise that after staying here, you will have change left in your pocket.

St Christopher's Berlin also gives you a 24 hour reception and no curfew or lockout.

How To Find Us

You can find us in the middle of the historic Mitte district which is 5 meters from the Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz U-Bahn Station.

What's Near By

From the hostel it's a short walk to some of the most vibrant parts of Berlin which means you can easily crawl home from the plethora of bars, clubs, restaurants and hip boutiques. Location Location Location might be a tacky term of phase but that's what it comes down to when you stay at St Christopher's in Berlin.

The Rosa-Luxemburg-Strasse is one of the most fascinating streets in the city. It runs north from Dircksenstraße in the inner eastern part of the city, to Torstraße where it becomes Schönhauser Allee. On it you will find the Volksbühne (the People's Theatre), the historic Babylon Cinema and of course the St Christopher's Inn.

Next to our ‘bargain-ous' bar you will find a stage, a street café that serves food all day, a pool table on the balcony lounge and a big screen for all the sports action.

The Rooms

There are a variety of rooms to choose from including singles, doubles and multi-bed dorms. We also offer a number of apartments for those of you who crave a little luxury.
