Bunk is in Amsterdam Noord, a hip neighborhood just across the water from the city center. It might sound far, but it’s only about 5 minutes by metro or a free ferry ride from Amsterdam Centraal Station.

Each day I just walked a few minutes to the ferry (which runs late into the night) or the nearby metro, and I was in central Amsterdam in no time. The area itself feels local and laid-back – a nice break from the touristy hustle of downtown.

Even at night, I felt safe walking back through the quiet, well-lit streets.

Social Vibes – Just very welcoming

Bunk’s lounge and bar is set in a converted church with funky decor and communal tables. Laid-back, artsy vibes – not a wild party hostel, just very welcoming.

As a solo female traveler, I really appreciated Bunk’s security measures. Access to the dorm area is keycard-only (so only guests can get in), and the front desk is staffed 24/7 which gave me peace of mind when I came back late.

Lockers under each pod kept my valuables safe, and even in a mixed dorm I felt completely comfortable thanks to the privacy of the pods and the respectful vibe.
