This is a lovely quirky hostel, its very clean, no nosiy bar (it's not boring though). staff really nice and helpful and its pretty central and cheap.

'A warm and friendly welcome', I don't think so. More like a very frosty and unfriendly welcome. Otherwise it is in a convenient location. The rooms are average and clean. The stairs is a bit steep for luggage.

We stayed there for five nights. It's clean, and the kitchen is well equipped. Rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are nice. There's only one problem; the doors are heavy so they make a lot of noise when you close them. Bring earplugs!

This is a good hostel. Very good location. Clean and quiet and there's a fridge and sink in the room. The staff are okay. In the summer, the backyard is a good place to go. However, the room I stayed in for two weeks was very small (without a desk) and dark. The kitchen is clean but it is not a place where it is easy to make friends.

I found the staff to be quite rude...well, maybe not rude, but definitely not your typical pal-around backpacking bunch. BUT it goes with the territory, as Toad Hall is upper class in terms of a hostel. It is very neat and clean and the en suite bathrooms were a wonder. The kitchen was big enough, as was the common area. The location was handy and you did feel very safe, which is something you can't put a price on (especially when you hear about other hostels). No, it's not a party place or even a place where you can have a lot of fun, but if you want a classy, clean and secure stay, I would recommend it to anyone.

As a female travelling alone, I'm always looking for a place to stay that makes me feel safe and comfortable, and Toad Hall did both. Security seemed to be of great importance here. In addition, the staff were really friendly and helpful from the minute I checked in. It is by far the cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in. The kitchen is spacious, and the TV lounge makes you feel like you're laying on the sofa back home!

I visited this establishment in late October and found the place to be very accessible to where I had to go during my stay there and will definitely stay there again.

Toad Hall is clean, and that I appreciate greatly, but the staff there were distant, uninformative, and terse to the point of being rude. Don't expect the front desk to provide anything, even information, unless you are booking something with them. They are very oriented around the $$. I would give them a bit above average rating for cleanliness, though, and I have pretty strict standards for that. Keep in mind that this 'hotel' is fairly expensive as far as they go, and they also don't provide anything like breakfast, a towel, etc. The location, however, is very good.
