Cascais is a charming and coastal city near Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. During the day you can visit the center of the city (a small but picturesque village, which retains their old architecture and has a lot of shops, cafes, and small markets with art crafts), relax on the amazing beaches, visit the marina (see the beautiful landscapes while you're having a drink), and the Casa da Guia (a beautiful place to have a good brunch with amazing views of the landscapes on the coast).
At night, enjoy the amazing nightlife with a lot of bars and fancy discos. During the summer, drive about five minutes to Estoril, which is also a good option for a good nightlife, with bars and discos located on the beach, which gives a good atmosphere. If you feel lucky, visit one of the best and oldest casinos in Portugal, Estoril Casino, which has a lot of live shows (check their schedule during your stay).
Near Cascais, you have a lot of places to visit, like Guincho Beach, with fancy cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy the amazing sea coast with golden sand. This place is particularly good for water sports like surfing and kite surfing. Boca do Inferno has natural beauty with amazing cliffs on the water. Praia Grande is a beautiful but small beach, where you can relax or eat a good meal of fresh fish or shellfish. Sintra is one of the most beautiful places in Portugal, with amazing monuments, history, and gardens.
There are not so many hostels in Cascais, but they are clean and with a good relation of quality/price. In Cascais hostels, expect really friendly people who will make you feel like you're home.
