Great Hostel

I stayed there in june 2019. Is a great hostel to stay, like others wombats around europe. Great facilities and great large spaces to share moment with people from all over the world. Also, there is a bar where you can meet up people or watch a soccer match like i did, with live DJ playing. The location is great too, just 300 metres to reach the metro station. In front of the hostel you will find a beautiful place full of restaurant and bars to enjoy a great night with people and dancing. If i came back to budapest, i would stay there again without hesitating.

Would stay here again

Location is great when thinking about the historical things as well as the night life at ruin bars. Breakfast is 3 euro which is reasonable but maybe not your best deal for Budapest since most local grocery stores are very cheap. Staff was helpful and made an effort to help us with our unexpected change of plans when our train was canceled. Rooms were clean and in the 8 bed room, did not even notice the 4 beds that were partitioned from our 4 bed side.

Large, social hostel that does things right

Wombats is a great place to meet people, especially for the solo traveler. They have a wealth of experience in running a hostel and know how it is done. Great bar, great kitchen, awesome location, great people, clean ... everything you can ask for.

Stayed here for five nights October 2014. Great location, helpful and friendly front desk staff, cheap all-you-can-eat breakfast, clean hostel -- would recommend this Hostel.

If you want clean and something a bit different from small hostels

A place where we even didn't dare to walk in at first cause we thought it was some kind of fancy hotel. But actually no, its a huge hostel. Very spacious rooms and very clean. Each room has their own bathroom, what makes it even nicer, when comparing the price. Hostel has its own bar and big common area what is good for meeting new people. Also the kitchen is huge and very well equipped.

Breakfast for 3.50 is very good considering the option of making grilled sandwich and drinking an actual cappuccino made from real coffee beans! Staff gets a big high 5 from us, being so helpful and knowing all the right places to see and do. Only things to consider choosing this place would be that the hostel is big and has many groups, so finding single travelers to mingle with, isn't as easy as in a small hostel. Also it's a party hostel and the corridors echo a bit, when people arrive at night. Nothing that a good pair of earplugs don't solve (you can get them also from reception).

I stayed in october 2012 and it was very great. it looks like a hotel not hostel! I booked a double room with bath and there were the towels, the soap and also the phone! The breakfast was not included but we had it for few and it was very rich -- milk, coffee, tea, orange juice, cereals, jam, chocolate, bread, fruit and sandwiches. The location is really near to the river and to the main attractions of the city. The staff is very kind and they give you all the infos about where having a typical dinner and everything else. You are welcome with a cocktail in the bar! the atmosphere you breath in the hostel is very pleasant and there are lot of young people ... I will suggest it to everyone who wants to come in budapest!

Great Party hostel, clean rooms but aircon issues

Stayed here in July 2012 so very clean, has great facilities and en-suite bathrooms in most rooms. Unfortunately the air con in our 6 bed female dorm was broken the entire time during our 6 night stay & whenever we complained they handed us free drink vouchers for the bar. Also most guests were below 20 and on their round the world trips -- great if you're into partying all night and a small amount of sightseeing in the day, but not so good if you're looking for travel companions & you're over 25. Also the kitchen, although it had good facilities, it was always really messy and crowded at dinner times & again there seemed to be no working aircon so you were sweating as you cooked your dinner. Definitely not the worst hostel I'd stayed in, but its more of a hotel and because its so big staff don't have the time/care to sort you out.
