The atmosphere at AE Backpackers Hostel is calm and quiet but friendly. The owners are often around and they will make sure that you have everything that you need. This hostel makes visiting Brunei much more affordable!
The Location
The excellent AE Backpackers Hostel is on the outskirts of the capital city of Brunei, but don’t let that put you off. It’s actually in a better location than any city centre location. The hostel is surrounded by many places to eat and drink which suit any budget and taste whereas much of the city centre closes down early evening.
It takes just thirty minutes to walk into the city from AE Backpackers; you can catch the local bus, which stops outside, or you can take a water taxi to and from town from the nearby jetty.
The hostel takes up two floors within a modern complex, and whilst it could be a little bit difficult to find the first time, just take note of the contact details and phone for help if necessary. The front door is always kept locked but staff are around twenty-four hours a day to let you in, and once you have checked in, you will be given an access key card.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Dormitories are mixed or female only and are newly built. Bunk beds are made of solid wood with good-quality mattresses and bedding and include a cosy fleece blanket. Rooms have air-conditioning, and each bed has a reading light and a charging socket plus a USB charging point.
Bathrooms are shared but they are large and kept spotlessly clean and have good hot-water showers. There is soap and shower gel in the bathrooms, plus a hairdryer and guests are given a towel on arrival.
The hostel is decorated in muted colours of grey, black, and white, which is nice and restful.
Common Spaces
There are tables and chairs in the outside seating areas on each of the two floors (if you can stand the heat) and comfy sofas and a dining table and chairs in the reception area. The hostel has a kitchen with a microwave, a fridge, and a toaster; you can also get free tea, coffee, and drinking water throughout the day. Laundry facilities are available, including an iron; Wi-Fi is good throughout the hostel. You can watch TV in the small common room at reception and security is good throughout the hostel, with CCTV cameras, which are frequently monitored; small lockers are available in the reception area for your valuables.
Summary
The staff know a lot about the local area and they can give you information on how to get about the city, suggest things to see and do, and also recommend where to eat. You can hire a bicycle too from the hostel if you want to explore by pedal power.

• Take public BUS No 23 for $1 on the Departure drop point area to Bandar Seri Begawan bus Station Central then take another bus No 20 (ask ticket counter for any inquiries) then walk in a few minutes to Simpang 88 after traffic light, AE Backpackers Hostel is located at Lot 30116 Unit 3, 1st Floor and 2nd Floor Kampung Kiulap. (Public Bus operate start at 6 am till 6 pm)

• You can go straight away to the Airport Taxi Counter at Arrival Hall. AE Backpackers Hostel is +/- 7 kilometer away from the Brunei International Airport. You may call us by asking the taxi driver talk to us, Its better to guide in our local language.
• • WATER TAXI
• Another easiest way to find AE Backpackers Hostel if you are from the City. Water Taxi is waiting at Water Front area, By telling the driver to drop you at Kiulap Jetty and it gonna take around 5 min and cost you not more than $5. From the Jetty to the AE Backpackers Hostel will takes more less 5 minutes by walking on your left side direction.
