Liked: Close to a metro station (but in a ugly neighbourhood) Didn't like: We were not given the room we booked. It was a double bed and got a twin. When we indicate the error we were told "we don't have a double room because we are full." No apologies nor compensation (like free breakfast for instance). Also they never cleaned the room in 4 days. The air conditioning was broken. The staff were sour. The neighborhood was ugly and seemed dangerous. Dont stay here.
Liked: Value for money. Seemed pretty clean and safe. The staff were helpful. Close to the metro. Didn't like: My room wasn't cleaned once during my stay. The location seems somewhat dodgy and very run down. Every building around it seems to be shut down. My room was also extremely gloomy with a window that looked onto an indoor corridor rather than outside. The wifi was nonexistent in my room, and the TV had only one channel.
Liked: The location is great, close to Hop in/Hop off buses.I have asked for a quiet room and I got a room facing the back of the building and it was great. The staff was helpfull. Didn't like: Nothing really; however the breakfast could vary a bit... But you can go around the corner and buy good pastries.
Liked: Very close to metro station, relatively quiet rooms - no noise from the street, but you're unlucky if you have noisy neighbors as the walls are thin. Staff very helpful and not too nosy. Didn't like: The are did not strike as very safe. We had no problems during daytime, but I'm not so sure if it is the same after dusk. There was a mini shampoo bottle and bath foam bottle in the bathroom - the shampoo was half used and why do we need bath foam if there is only a shower?
The room was clean and spacious. There was no noise coming from the street during the night. Good value and good location, really close to underground
It was a lovely time & the hotel is really nice!
Liked: the location, the oranges, the cleanliness. Didn't like: the breakfast was correct.
Liked: A little from the action, but close to the Metro, and great for the price. Didn't like: The room was on the small size, but good for the $$$$
Our stay at Rio Athens was good. It's a nice basic hotel from wich you can easily explore the city by metro (akropolis in less than 15 min). The staff was friendly & breakfast basic but good. Our room was basic and clean. Some lights did not work properly though and the airconditioning seemed to be too dusty to do his job, but those are our only remarks. We didn't really mind as we were out all day exploring the city. If you're looking for a nice, not too expensive, basic hotel to explore the city of Athens then Rio Athens is a good place to stay!
no AC working and little water bugs in bathroom and occasionaly in bedroom. Near very near metro but far from anything welse. overall not bad at all
The location of the hotel is convenient for sight seeing.
Hotel Rio was nice but i thought a little small for the price. no real complaints though because the street felt safe enough but i still chose to be in before dark since i was traveling alone. the lady working the desk was very helpful a number of times but the other staff really never said much. there was a cute little bar right next door but also construction on the opposite side so be ready for early morning workers. all in all i would stay there again.
A good value for money property.Small room but a good hot shower and great location close to Metro and easy walking distance to Acropolis and Hondos Centre.Staff were very friendly and the "alfresco area" was great for a cold beer and people watching.
