Marbella, in the province of Malaga, Andalusia, Spain, is a coastal town that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea and is part of the autonomous community of Andalusia, Costa del Sol. Costa del Sol, or Coast of the Sun, is named for its view of the beautiful sunrise over the sea and is world renowned as a tourist destination.

Marbella has a long history that goes back to Palaeolithic and Neolithic times, inhabited by Neanderthals and different tribes of ancient Iberia. Unlike other places, the traces of Phoenician and Roman settlements are still intact and evident in many areas, like the famous Roman Bridge, various Roman villas and mansions, and Roman baths. Marbella has also been heavily influenced by the conquest and settlement of several peoples and kingdoms, most notably the Iberian occupation and residency of Moors. Various Spanish kingdoms, especially the Kingdom of Granada, have also made an impact to Marbella.

Marbella has also been a site of various modern day political conflicts and wars that caused damaged to the city, especially the Spanish Civil War. At the present, Marbella is characterized as a great tourist destination, full of modern structures, buildings, and establishments, without losing its astounding regard for its nature and environment. Marbella is known for its long stretches of beaches and decent location for clean water, like the Rio Verde or the Green River.

Marbella is most famous for the old ruins and remains and other landmarks that goes back millennia. Aside from the Phoenician and Roman remains and structures, Marbella is also full of churches, buildings, and structures that go back to the Middle Ages, with the heavy influence of the Byzantine, Moorish, Gothic, and other medieval characters.

The walled city of Old Town of Marbella or the Casco Antiguo is heavily preserved in various locations and can be discovered in tours. The Old Town extends from the Barrio Alto to Barrio Nuevo. The modern Marbella is also heavily preserved that features rich culture like art, food, music, and entertainment. During the night, Marbella lights up to highlight its colorful and vibrant nightlife full of bars, music, and restaurants. All year long there are various festivals and celebration to keep the tourism lively.
