Blagaj, Bosnia and Herzegovina, is definitely a favourite! This small village is situated in the south of Bosnia and Herzegovina, close to the border with Croatia (about eighty kilometers) and surrounded by the Dinaric Mountains. Blagaj is one of the most unique places in the world for what it can offer for travelers.
There is a Dervish monastery built in the sixteenth century at the entrance of a cave from which spring water comes out! The more interesting fact is the huge quantity of water that comes out -- scientists can't even figure out where it comes from. It's amazing! If you are in Mostar for a holiday, Blagaj is a must-see for its cave, spring water, monastery, and even for the view on the way there. If you are in Mostar, the best way to get to Blagaj is a bus; you can find information and schedules on the internet.
There are some restaurants just next to the spring water that are super affordable. Try some cevapi (a Balkan sausage made of minced meat from goat, sheep, or beef ), drink a beer (Sarajevsko is a favourite), and be sure to take some time to enjoy the view!
Your Blagaj, Bosnia and Herzegovina hostel is a great place from which to base yourself to see the monastery and everything else this area has to offer.
