HI - Bohinjsko Jezero - YH Pod Voglom Hostel offers not only decent accommodation but also many activities such as canoeing, kayaking, and day trips (none included in the price). The staff are friendly and helpful, providing material on things to see and do around town.]
The Location
The hostel is conveniently located just by the road that surrounds Bohinj, the majestic lake that is the main attraction in the area. The most accessible way to arrive is by bus from Ljubljana or Bled, since there is a bus stop just in front of the hostel. Otherwise, the walk is quite long from the train station and you may want to get a cab, depending on how much luggage you have. It is also a bit of a walk to reach the shops and restaurants in the centre of Bohinj. If you come by car, it is simple to find and there are parking spaces.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The hostel offers four-bed mixed dorms and privates going from single to three beds, with shared bathrooms or ensuite. The dorms are small -- with bunk beds, a wardrobe, and a washbasin. There are no lockers in the room. There are two toilets (male and female) with a separate shower on each floor, which may be too few since there are about twenty rooms on each floor. Showers have a small space for changing and a few hangers on the walls, but there are no curtains, so your clothes might get wet.
Common Spaces
There is a bar and restaurant in the hostel, so they dont provide a kitchen for the guests. In high season (July and August) they offer dinner every night at affordable prices. At other times of year dinner is occasional. There is a simple breakfast included in the price consisting of bread, cereals, and coffee. There is also a TV room in the restaurant and a computer for guests.
Summary
The hostel has a nice atmosphere and friendly staff, and it's very well located if you've come to see the lake and plan to have your meals at the hostel itself. The downside is that it doesn't have a kitchen for guests, and there are too few bathrooms for those sharing.
The location is exceptional, and the canteen has great views, however the hostel and facilities were really very basic. For the same price we stayed in luxury airbnbs with good views for the rest of the trip so I would not recommend this hostel at all based on the value.
I think 7 is fair, it's a good location on the lake if you want to hire equipment but no closeby restaurants or shops. I was told 3 different prices for dinner, thankfully was charged the lowest of the 3 on checkout. Kind of gives off summer camp vibes, probably because there was a group of 100 school kids there at the time. Rooms could use lockers.
Amazing location next to the lake and lovely atmosphere. Nice bunk bed room. Staff helpful and friendly, and nice surprise of breakfast included.
Old school hostel does and has everything you need it to. Amazing location on the edge of the lake and very peaceful out of season. Good for travellers wanting some peace and quiet with the basic facilities. May be a different story if there are high school groups staying but that was not the case when I stayed so I cannot comment on that.
Awesome location on Lake Bohinj! Stayed for one week for a course and the staff were super helpful with advice for hikes and activities. The hostel also has a huge selection of rental gear from bikes, kayaks, SUPs and e-bikes. Nice warm rooms and great atmosphere!
Its a cool place for couples, families and groups. Definitely would not recommend for a solo traveler. The location is right up the lake, which is nice, the nearest shop is 2 km away, which is not a problem, because the walk to it is nice. Facilities are a bit outdated, but they have a lot of sport activities, on which you have a discount as a hostel guest. If you dont like high schoolers or organized child trips, I would not recommend going there in September or October.
Quite simply put, both the building and the facilities inside it are almost falling apart from age and overuse.
Superb location right in front of the lake. The facilities are run down and there's only one shower for the whole hallway. The ladies shower actually had mold. The hostel reminds me a lot of the "Grand Budapest Hotel" where everything used to be nice but is now old. Unfortunately there is no kitchen, so you need to eat out or bring stuff, which you can then eat ate the lakeside. Lots of school-classes around when we stayed
The breakfast is cool though, as there is a sandwich-press ;)

I would not reccommend going here if you are looking to meet people. There are almost only families with a dog. There is one toillet for all the rooms so there is constantly a queque. The staff looks like the could break down in to tears any moment because the are so understaffed at the terace. Nice thing is that they rent out watersports stuff like kayaks and sups for very low prices.
Diner was not great, bit all the rest was really nice!
We loved our stay overall. The staff were friendly, helpful, and available. For a family with kids and dogs, the atmosphere was great: a relaxed vibe, a nice hang-out area overlooking the lake, a bar with drinks (including local craft beer on tap) and ice cream. The sports equipment and activities were also just what we'd hoped for, and we enjoyed all the SUPing, canoeing, rafting, and bicycling we did during our stay. The facilities badly need some renovation and weekend parties can be noisy.
Liked: Staff are helpful, location is useful for water sports and hiking. Nice that they have the option for dinner there - after a long hike it's nice not to have to walk into town if you've had a big day. They also offer a lot of sporting possibilities right from their doorstep. Didn't like: Washing machine too expensive.Ok for me but maybe useful for others: This hostel is old and lodge-like - catered for coming in dirty or wet after outdoor activities. If you're not into these activities, there's not much to do there, and it's 15min into town. If, like me, you're into hiking and water sports etc., it's well-located and practical
Liked: very quiet, so you can sleep well Didn't like: far from the city center
Liked: Good location right next to the lake with decent sized rooms Didn't like: Do not under any circumstances have the hostels dinner. 9 for sweetcorn soup, shocking meatballs and a slice of watermelon. Also the internet couldn't be accessed from the rooms.
Liked: 50m from the lake, a 15 min walk to town centre. Excellent service from staff were able to communicate in several languages. Breakfast included was a nice treat! Didn't like: Only 1 bathroom for female & male on each floor, If possible to convert one room into a bathroom it would much better. Room had 2 bunk beds but seemed small because of this huge wardrobe that held a couple of blankets & space to hang coats. It would be a space saver to get rid of that just have a shelf & some hooks to hang items on.
Liked: If you like hiking this is the place to stay. Staff is really knowledgable about the area and always ready to help you.I really enjoyed my stay there and wished I had stay there longer. If you are not into hiking or outdoor sports, this moght not be the place for you. Didn't like: Nothing
Liked: Loved the location on the lake...fantastic! Didn't like: One toilet and shower between a lot of people!
Liked: This place is right in front of the lake. It's clean and the staff is very friendly. I would return here if I visit Bohinj again. Didn't like: Wifi signal is very week in the room.
Liked: Helpful staff, a decent breakfast of toast and cereals, good wifi connection. Very clean. It's right on the lake. Didn't like: It is a big hostel that caters to families etc so not much in the way of atmosphere.
