Hostel Revolution Reviews

Hostel Revolution Quito is a cosy Colonial style hostel in central Quito. It is perfect for people who want to stay in the centre while trying to avoid the gringo areas but still be close to all the best parts of Quito.

The Location

It is located between the old town and Mariscal, which is the main party area. There are couple of parks close by to go for a nice walk in and a few cafes and restaurants to get a meal at. The supermarket is just around the corner and the central market is just ten minutes away. There are a few different bus stops around to catch a bus to different parts in Quito.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The bedrooms are big and spacious. They all have big lockers where you can store your big backpack and plenty of power points for everybody to use. The beds are very comfortable and sturdy. The mattresses are nice and soft; everything feels fresh and new. There is also extra storage space under some of the beds which you can lock.

The bathrooms are kept very clean and the showers and the toilets are in separate cubicles. There are three showers and three toilets upstairs and couple of toilets downstairs. The showers are a bit small but there is enough room to hang your stuff and get changed. The showers are hot and the water pressure is very good. There is also some soap, hand towel and a hair dryer in the bathroom.

Common Spaces

The reception is on the second floor and it also works as a bar, dining area, and common area. Unfortunately, it is only open between 8.30 till 23.00. There are few long tables with benches around and two beanbags in the room with a huge TV on the wall. They also have a big bookshelf there with a book exchange or you can just borrow some of them to read while in the hostel. The free luggage storage is on the ground floor in a locked room.

There is another smaller TV room with couches and hundreds of movies to watch and a computer. There is another computer upstairs in the hall and a nice terrace on the roof overlooking the city where you can just hang out, smoke, or dry your clothes.

The kitchen is the best part of the hostel and is very well equipped with anything you can wish for and is very clean and spacious. All the appliances look new and are in working order. They also provide free tea and coffee throughout the day.

Summary

Overall the hostel is superb. The Wi-Fi works well, the owner and staff are friendly and it has a good atmosphere to it. Everything is kept very clean and in working order. It's a nice place to meet other travelers, cook some food together, and enjoy each others company.

Location and Contact

Location

• We are one block from the Ecovia bus stop at Alameda Park. There is no steep walk uphill from the bus stop to the hostel. The hostel is on the corner of Los Rios (N13-11) and Julio Castro. Look for the initials HR on the sides of the balcony and on the door. We are the second and third floor of the building. The new ecovia bus is very close and has a dedicated lane which allows for quick and cheap transport from the north to the south of Quito (25c) along 6 de deciembre (Mariscal is just 5 minutes away). Also a few minutes walk is the trolley bus system, similar to the ecovia, it runs north to south in quito valley along 10 de Agosto. The Metro Bus, additionally, is very close and runs along Avenida America west of the trolley.
• How to get from the airport
• Taxi ranks with official yellow cabs are out the front of the arrival lounge. You need to negotiate a price as the taxis do not use their meters from the airport (around $5-$7). To negotiate ask ´cuanta cuesta la esquina los rios y Julio Castro, cerca parque alameda´(how much is it to the corner of los rios and julio castro, close to park alameda). Once you agree on the price we are about 20-30 minutes away (depending on the traffic)
