The Hostel in South Beach is a famous business and many locals seem to know it. It has a special deal with free breakfast and dinner for guests, and a large common area where people can interact and chill.
The Location
It is located on Ninth Street, very close to Ocean Drive and all the man bars and restaurants in Miami Beach. Also the beach is only two hundred meters away, and right on that side of the beach there are beach volleyball courts and an open gym on the sand. The bus stop that goes to the airport stops right in front of the hostel and an Uber to the airport is not super expensive.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Rooms have bunk beds and host up to eight people. A bathroom is available in each room, with toilet and shower together. Lockers are available but you need to use your own lock. Mattresses are large but short, especially for the top bunk, and a tall guy doesn’t fit it well. Bedsheets are very used and not of a good quality. The air conditioning is always on, which is a plus considering the heat of Miami. Hot water is available in the shower. There is also one toilet available in the common area of he hostel. Cleanliness is good in the rooms, but the bathrooms are often sandy and dirty.
Common Spaces
There is a lobby at the entrance with sofas and chairs, a little smoking area outside and then a big lounge with sofas, tables, and chairs next to the kitchen. Most guests spend time there, as it is fresh and comfortable and it is easy to meet people. There is also a pool and a table tennis table, so guests can enjoy and challenge each other’s. A kitchen is advertised but not really available, as there is only a fridge and a microwave, but no cookers. Free breakfast is provided and free dinner as well, making it convenient considering prices in Miami Beach. It is not a party hostel but it does organize some events on certain evenings, gathering guests together.
Summary
As it's located in the heart of South Beach, next to all bars and clubs and the beach, it can be a good option. Also the free breakfast and dinner is a plus. However the beds and the cleanliness are not great, so certain customers might not enjoy that.
