Nice, clean hostel, not far from the centre and great free breakfast
the hostel is quite close to the city centre (just about 10 minutes walk), very clean, very friendly staff, and great free breakfast. the staff also organize a free barbecue night and the pub inside the hostel is very nice. The kitchen are also very clean, ideally there should be more space for cooking and washing (the kitchen has only 3 sinks), and there should be more space in the fridge, anyway these issues are common to many hostels, nevertheless it is not problematic at all organize your meal.there's no free internet (that would be awesome). but computer and wireless are available continuously and the reception is open 24/7. the great thing of the rooms is that each bed has its own bed light and plugs, so there's no crowd in using them. Overall, this hostel offers really good value for the price paid, and it is one of the best hostels I have ever stayed in Australia.
Pretty comfy and nice staff
Nice Hostel, Room was clean when I arrived and nice staff with good helping and attitude, I will visit again in the future.
Dorm room and bathrooms were clean. Only problem was noise from motorway and bar next door. Bar on ground floor was nice and not the source for noise. The staff didn't explain the free breakfast. Good location, with easy tram access to St Kilda and city center. Casino complex nearby. 15 min walk to city center.
Clean, friendly staff, big locker with power port, free rice and spaghetti. What else do you expect? Definitely great.
Not very good
Urban central wasn't very good. Nothing wrong with the room, it was pretty clean. The staff was not polite at all, I'd even call them rude actually. The kitchen was filthy, smelly and far too small. It was always crowdy in the kitchen, it had an awful smell. If I go back to Melbourne I WONT stay in this hostel. Choose somewhere else.
So clean & friendly, great location, close to shops. I really enjoyed all the activities they put on in the bar, great way to meet people. Loads of freebies and discounts offered to guests, including a weekly meal. I stayed there whilst working in Melbourne and would definitely stay there again and recommend to others.
Great, even for a person going solo
i stayed in melbourne for about 3 months in 09' and this hostel was where i spent 2 months of the 3. its excellent atmosphere makes you feel at home and the people/staff make it even more fun. i met some good people from all over the world that im still talking to and planning more trips. it can be loud some nights but if you're looking for a good place to stay in melbourne, i highly recommend it. i personally will be heading back in a few months.
Spent three nights here and felt very unsafe due to loud drunks late at night kicking doors in all along the corridor. All my food was stolen from the fridge and the kitchen was disgusting. The dorms and big, good space, and lockers. Location is good for exploring melbourne.
