Beige Poshtels is essentially an airport hostel to use if you have an early or late flight. However, it's actually in a really authentic, non-touristy area with a great night food market nearby. You'll therefore get more than just an airport hostel. It's very well furnished, but you won't want to stay any longer than a night. It's too far from the city centre.
The Location
Despite its location near the airport, this is a grueling, forty-five-minute walk in the sweltering heat of Bangkok. A motorbike taxi isn't too expensive. If, however, you're determined to walk, exit the airport via the bridge that crosses the train tracks. Turn right and walk until you see a convenience store. Turn left here, keep to the left hand side of the road and walk for approximately twenty minutes until you see a very large convenience store not connected to any other buildings. Turn left here and carry on straight for a further twenty minutes. There will be a slight left and right turn as the road goes around a building, just follow the cars. Then eventually the road will veer round to the right; again, just follow the traffic. Walk for a further ten minutes, past the large food market, and you will see the hotel on your right, opposite yet another convenience store.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Rooms are furnished to a very high standard, although the beds are a little hard; regardless, you should be able to get a good night's sleep here before or after your flight. Dorms have en suite bathrooms with powerful, hot showers and everywhere is spotlessly clean. Beds come with reading lights, plug sockets, and curtains. Large air-conditioning units are present too.
Common Spaces
The hostel doubles up as a cafe, therefore the main common area is essentially a pleasant roadside cafe. The atmosphere here, however, is dead as everyone sticks to their own table to eat. Luckily, there's also a small, quiet, and comfy seating area on the first floor where you can chill out in peace with free tea and coffee.
Summary
This is an airport hostel in a surprisingly lovely area for Bangkok. You'll be the only tourists walking around the buzzing night food market and afterward you'll have a cosy room to retreat to. Motorbike taxi drivers hang around nearby in the mornings, so getting to the airport isn't an issue. This isn't a dive either; a lot of effort has gone into making this place feel homey.
