Go Slow Guesthouse, Caye Caulker

Go Slow Guesthouse is a great option for travelers visiting Caye Caulker on a budget that want to meet other people! It is very centrally located on the island and has many amenities, including bikes for rent.

The Location

The location of Go Slow is one of the best on the island. It is right around the corner from the main strip, and still very close to the Split, tour operators, restaurants, and bars. It is about a five-minute walk to the north from the ferry terminals. As it's on a side street, the hostel is in a much quieter area with less traffic passing by.

Rooms and Bathrooms

There are several dorm rooms at the hostel. They come with four bunks (eight beds total), and there is plenty of floor space and room to spread out. The beds are quite comfortable and linens are freshly laundered! There is an air conditioner in the room as well as several fans. The room can be locked and opened with a key given at check-in (there is a deposit for the key). There are also a few shared bathrooms around the property. The bathroom is very small and contains a toilet and standing shower with hot water. There aren’t very many places to hang clothes, and the space is quite small, making it hard to change clothes! There are two sinks, countertops, and a mirror just outside the bathroom. There is also hand soap available. The bathroom is cleaned daily!

Common Spaces

There are several areas to hang out and meet other guests around the property. Outside of the rooms in the open air, there are colorful hammocks, lounging chairs, picnic tables, and a friendly cat! There are also bar stools on the balcony above the bottom level. There is a clean kitchen that is stocked with all necessary items and working appliances. Although breakfast is not included, there is complimentary coffee available. The reception area is open for most of the day, and the staff live on the property and are very friendly and helpful. There are many souvenir items available for purchase in the lobby, as well as a place to store luggage. Go Slow is definitely a social hostel, as they are almost always fully booked. The hostel doesn’t facilitate any parties per se, but it is always easy to meet other travelers and have a good time in the common areas.
