Sapa Inka is close enough to the action, but far enough away to get some well deserved peace and quiet in this tranquil and homey hostel.

The Location

Sapa Inka hostel is about a five-minute walk from the bus terminal and a one-minute walk from the beach. While it is close enough to the action of the main streets in town that are especially well known for their crazy parties, the hostel is located in a more quiet area, meaning when you want to draw yourself away from the crazy and sleep, it is definitely possible.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The rooms are medium-sized and spacious. The dorm rooms have a large amount of space under the beds to put your belongings and each bed has an allocated locker with a charging port inside for security of your valuables. The beds are comfortable, although sometimes you get that musty smell of damp that comes with humid and wet climates. At one end of the dorm room, you will find a balcony with a clothesline for hanging beach gear; at the other there is a bathroom.

The bathroom has an electric shower, which you can get hot, but you sometimes have to fight with it as the water pressure fluctuates (and as such, so does the temperature). The bathroom is clean and spacious, though, and quite modern.

Common Spaces

The common area is a large outdoor area with an overhead cover. There is a large table with bamboo couches and a table in the middle with books and games. Inside on the bottom floor, there is a kitchen where you can prepare your own meals and where a wholesome and free breakfast is prepared for you in the mornings.

Summary

Sapa Inka hostel is a great place to relax and chill out in Montañita. They rent surfboards if you are interested in going for a surf by the hour or for the day. They also can help you plan and organise any tours around the area that you want to do, such as Isla de la Plata. The hostel has quite a few friendly cats that hang about in the common area and the reception as well, which give it a nice, homey feel. This is a really great hostel for kicking back, relaxing, and enjoying the beach without the constant party for which Montañita is famous.

Location

• From the bus terminal 'terminal Terrestre' in Guayaquil there are direct busses between Guayaquil and Montanita several times every day with the company 'CLP'. The price is 6 dollars pr. person.
• In Montanita the bus stops in the middle of town on the main street 'ruta spondylus'. Stay on the main street and walk in direction of the bridge. After the bridge take a turn to the left towards the beach. Walk a few meters and take a turn to the right on the next road. After a few meters turn to the left again towards the beach and the hostel is just 20 meters down the road. If you get lost you can ask for Dharma beach Hotel which is just in front of our hostel.
• From the hostel you will be within walking distance of everything - the bus station, the beach, local food markets, shopping possibilities, restaurants, bars and more.
