Olive Hostel Lagos is an incredible hostel with incredible staff! This hostel is just outright cool!
You will find Olive Hostel located up a quiet side street in the downtown area of Lagos, but it is indeed not very far from the action at all. From the bus station where you will arrive, it's only a ten- to fifteen-minute walk to the hostel and a five- to ten-minute walk from the beach. Supermarkets, restaurants, and anything else you might need are also super close.
Rooms and Bathrooms
The rooms here are fairly large and you have space to move. They are nicely decorated with shelf space and chairs as well, making it feel homey. The bunk beds are really comfortable and the linen is nice. In the summer, they have an air conditioner that they put on to keep things cool if it is really hot. There are lockers for valuables located in the main foyer area too if you need one.
There are multiple bathrooms scattered throughout the hostel. Each of them is well maintained, clean, and has a nice homey feel to it. There isn't really a great deal of waiting for toilets and showers because they have enough of them here for everyone.
The hostel has a kitchen with stovetop for cooking meals. It is quaint and rustic, and while at times it can get a little cramped if everyone is trying to cook, it isn't too bad. The hostel also has an honesty system for food and drinks they have there. So if you get in and feel like a Portuguese tart or a piece of cake, you can grab it yourself from the kitchen and write your name on the paper. They also have a large fruit bowl, from which people can help themselves to free fruit.
The main downstairs outdoor area is a great place to sit and meet people. They do free sangria here every night too. It has tables and chairs where you can eat and also couches for lounging about. Upstairs on the roof, they also have a terrace. In the mornings, they do yoga here for a small cost and it is a chilled-out place to enjoy some sun.
This hostel is like a home away from home. The staff are really helpful and can give you information about the area or book tours for you. The extra perks that they have make you feel like it really is a welcoming place where people care instead of some of the sterile hostel environments you can come across. While it isn't a massive party hostel, it is very social, so you will meet and make friends here. It is really cool to stay here and they book out fast, so make your reservation early.

Location and Contact
• By public transport: • From Bus station or Train station go first in direction city center until you reach the taxi rank, post office, fish market or MEO store. Enter town until the statue of King Sebastiao (boy in granite) continue in his back until the next square. Here you turn left into Rua Candido dos Reis than next road to the right, pass rua 1o de Maio and turn left into Rua da Oliveira. We are almost at the end on the left side, with blue windows. • By car: • We advice to park the car outside of the city wall because of the one-way and small street system in the center. It is for free and only a 5 min walk to us. Turn of the N125 at the Intermarche round about in direction 'accesso local'. Go straight until the next round about and turn right. Next round about left until you come to the gate of the city wall. Here you basically drive straight in to the gravel parking are you see in front.
