‘Zapato Amarillo´-a small chalet with grass roof and wooden interior, set in a landscape of extraordinary beauty, where the discerning traveller may find a cozy place to rest tired feet, and savour oven-warm home-made bread and delicious Chilean fare. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the "Land of Blue Mirrors", so called for its innumerable lakes, reflecting snow-capped, elegant mountains, towering over lush native forest.
Our lodge is run by a Swiss-Chilean family, and located amid beautiful and peaceful countryside some two miles from the picturesque town of Puerto Octay. We offer double & dormitory rooms, evening meals such as fresh salmon dishes, beef or lamb stews, vegetarian food and salads, as well as home-made "Puerto Octay" cheese fondue. We have a spacious garden, parking facilities, Internet access, a laundry service, and a clean kitchen for guests (self-catering or otherwise). We provide good, accurate and up-to-date information and maps of the area and the vusual treks undertaken. We also offer luggage storage facilities. We rent out bicycles, a canoe, a sailing boat (laser 2), climbing & camping equipment (ice-picks, tent, etc.), a car and camper-van. There is also a well-maintained library of English, German, French and Spanish books. The "Zapato Amarillo" (Yellow Shoe) is the perfect place to either "chill out" after an exhausting expedition to Patagonia, or to "tank up" before a difficult trail to the mountains, or further south.

• Our lodge is located amid beautiful and peaceful countryside some two miles from the picturesque town of Puerto Octay on the road to Osorno.
• By Bus: From Osorno to Puerto Octay: Local bus lines operate every 20 minutes. From Puerto Montt bus terminal: five times a day, at: the following times: 08:30, 11:00, 13:30, 16:00 and 18:00 hours.
• By Car: From Osorno, it´s a 30 minute drive to Puerto Octay. Watch for the Yellow shoe about a mile and a half before entering the village, on the right hand side. From Puerto Montt it's roughly a one hour drive.
• By Bicycle: It provides a perfect day stop from Entrelagos, Osorno or Rio Bueno, coming south, or from Ensenada, Puerto Varas or Puerto Montt going north.
