Greg & Tom Beer House Hostel kills the Krakow hostel scene; they really cater to the guest experience. As it's nestled in the heart of the Krakow Old Town, you have everything at your door step.
The Location
The Old Town is the perfect location from which to explore this amazing city. You are only a five-minute walk from the market square, and a little farther to the the largest castle in Europe. You have all the nightlife you could want, as well as restaurants and supermarkets. It's also an easy walk to both the train and bus terminals.
Rooms and Bathrooms
Greg & Tom hostel has been going strong for years and they have a couple of locations in Krakow to cater for all levels of party people. As the beer house is on the more relaxed side, the dorms are spacious and have lockers for your stuff and each bed has a little reading light; however the beds are wildly uncomfortable, and pillows and blankets are lacking.
The bathrooms are shared, and perhaps not enough for the amount of beds. The showers are small and don't have any changing space. All round, the hostel just seems a little outdated, with leaking basins and wonky beds, almost as though they haven't maintained it very well since it opened. Although one of the dorms is far better than the other, so it really is luck of the draw.
Common Spaces
This is where Greg & Tom triumph and almost make up for the shoddy facilities. They offer free dinner and free breakfast. The breakfast is a ten out of ten as far as hostel breakfasts go; and free dinner, can you believe it?! This -- mixed with a bar space and opportunity for social interaction -- makes it the perfect hostel for any backpackers. The staff are friendly and can give you all the tips and tricks to experience this amazing city, as well as book tours for you. They also host a lot of activities including live music and pub crawls. They have a computer for guests to use and can print out boarding passes and tickets; there's also a TV with Sky if you are looking to chill out.
Summary
Greg & Tom hostels are well known for their social take on hostel life. This location is a perfect example of this; the facilities may be a little rundown, but the free meals and atmosphere definitely make up for it.

Location
• From the main bus and train station:
• Krakow's main train or bus station (Krakow Glowny) are located next to each other and just next to the big shopping mall Galeria Krakowska. You might need to get through the mall and when you are outside with the main entrtrance on your back just cross the small square and then cross the underground passage with the small shops. You will get outside on the Plants Park which surrounds Old Town. Keep walking straight towards the Old Town with the Old Town's Wall on your right, then turn left into Florianska Street. It's the Main Street of Cracow and our hostel is about one block down, Florianska Street number 43, situated on the left side as you walk towards the Old Town Square. Just in front of the Hebe stores.
• From the Balice Airport:
• To get from the airport just use the shuttle service to Krakow's center. You can use the bus or cheap taxi (iCar or Mega). You can use the bus number 292, it goes every 20 minutes during the day and ticket costs 6PLN, you can buy it from the machine at the bus stop. Remember get some coins, as it may not allow big notes. Machine has option to switch the language for: ENG, GER, FRA or ESP. Get off on the last bus stop Dworzec Glowny Wschod, which is just next to the Main Bus and Train Stations. Once you get to the main station (Krakow Glowny), located next to the big shopping mall Galeria Krakowska. Here just follow 'from the main bus station' directions.
• You can also get to the city center by special shuttle train which costs 12 PLN and the journey lasts around 18 minutes. It will take you to the Main Train Station - that's the fastest option and price is really cool!
• If you have any problem with getting to our hostel, just ask some people where is the Main Square of Florianska street (our street is the most famous street in Krakow - all locals knows where it is)
