• From the GIG Airport (International)
• i) Uber is the one I most recommend. Airport has free wifi for one hour and Uber was massive sponsor of the renovations, so now they have a spot for us to wait for it. Just be aware of some drivers to offer you to make the same as uber price, do not accept. It is not safe. Make sure you catch an uber. Cost between 40 - 60 reais due to dinamic prices.
• ii) Transfer: If you want to book a transfer with us just message us at +5521992072458 whats app and we can organize. The price is 90 reais. And fits till 3 people. This is guaranteed of a safe arrival.
• iii) Normal Taxi: Unfortunately sometimes that is the only option left, considering that you do not have uber, don't want to have uber or don't agree with uber. So if that is what you decided. Look for a company called aerocoop. Say you are going to Lapa. Or walk to the departures, and take a taxi from someone who just arrive. Prices in the meter would be between 70 - 90 reais.
• iv) Public Transport: Public transport is not hard but sure long and after a long flight not so sure it is ideal. You can take the BRT to Vicente de Carvalho (BRT is a bus that have its on lane, so it is faster). From Vicente de Carvalho takes the metro going to South and leave at Cinelandia. From there you can walk to Books for about 12 - 15 minutes, probably 16 as it is your first time and the way will be very unfamiliar. If you have a pc, check the way in google street view. Cost R$15,00.
• From the Bus Station (Novo Rio)
• Anytime you arrive, the cheaper option is to leave the bus station, turn right, cross the street to the other bus terminal (Normal buses), take the bus Trocanl 2, that will drive you directly to Lapa. You have to leave in front of the club Lapa 40, and then keep walking in the same directions of the cars, and turn right next street (After the traffic light). We have NO SIGN, just look for number 10 above the door. Bus costs R$4,05.
• However, if you come late at night, we advice you to take a taxi. The neighborhood around the bus station is not very welcoming. To do it, you better walk to the boarding area, what means you have to the top floor, cross it and come down at the other side. Wait for a passenger leave a taxi, and come in. Tell you are coming to Lapa, Avenida Gomes Freire, corner with Rua do Riachuelo (Show the taxi driver this written, it is a very common known adress). The street from the hostel is not very well known and this is a good reference fir the driver. The price should be R$35,00 maximum. Then walk up the road. Now we have a pizzaria just before us, and the moto taxi stop where we are good friends, so it is quite safe. Walk up and see us!
• From the Santos Dumont Airport (Domestic)
• During the day you can take a bus. Just walk to Avenida General Justo, cross the street through the bridge and take the 238 bus (AGUA SANTA). You have to leave in the first station after the big Lapa Arches (Impossible not to see). Then you will be at Avenida Mem de Sa. When you leave the bus, keep going in the direction of the cars and turn the first left at Avenida Gomes Freire. It is already the street of the hostel. Walk one block and the street will change name to Francisco Muratori, then we are in the 4th building on the right (LOOK FOR NUMBER 10 ABOVE THE DOOR). You can also take a Taxi. Again, if you dont want to accept a fixed price, you can walk to a street close by and catch a cab off the street. If you have difficulties, dont refrain from calling the hostel and we will try to help. The cab should cost you around R$15 - 20. But better to take a taxi in the airport. It will cost 17 BRL fixed price to Lapa. In the area around the airport there is some big streets where is not so easy to find a cab.
• During the day you can also walk. Just walk towards the arches in Lapa and follow the left street (Rua Riachuelo) after the arches. Rua Muratori is the second street on the left.
• PS: When you arrive look for number 10 above the door, we don't have any external advertising.
