CSW Hostel Reviews

ServiceWorld Hostel is one of the first hostels established in Singapore Chinatown about 10 years ago, located within the Kreta Ayer Historical and Civic Area within the heart of Chinatown. It was hailed as a historical hostel that brings a unique Chinatown experience to all travellers. Adjacent to the Hostel is the famous Buddha's Tooth Relic Temple and the Chinatown Visitors Centre and the Chinatown Complex - three prominent tourist spots. The Hostel is perhaps the most comfortable, cool and cosy, cleanest and best located, safest (fire safe concrete building structure and really the cheapest.Imagine for the budget price one pays, one gets restaurant dining and bar with the ambience of a good hotel. Imagine too, you get free WIFI at 18 MBPS for any serious remote work like banking that you can occupy yourselves all day. Imagine too that you are in the gallery of Yip Cheong Fun, elected by New York in 1980 as the world's Outstanding Photographer of the Century, and Recipient of the covetous Cultural Medallion, plus the Owner, his son, a famous author and poet, psychologist, historian and former Director of Planning in the country. Visiting a country or even staying in a hostel is not about sight-seeing alone. Meeting persons of world fame or just a chance to share your experience with significant persons is of immeasurable value as a personal experience. The Hostel may be small but it is more than adequate for any perceptive traveller. For Laundry, there is a 24 hour Laundromat. For Culture, there is a Gallery and a Museum within the Temple and nearby. Food is everywhere - Western food at ServiceWorld, Austrian food below, Chinese local delights all around the Hostel. Just five minutes walk, you will find the Chinatown MRT train station, and two bus stands that take you around Singapore, including sight-seeing coaches. Chinese medicine, Western doctors, medical shops - they are 5 minutes walk away. Look out of the Hostel outdoor terraces, you will enjoy the view of the skyscrapers of Raffles Place, the Fairfield Church, Jackie Chan's night club and the exciting, pulsating clubs and gymnasium in Tanjong Pagar. This surely is an eye-opening experience to remember for your stay in Singapore.
