Green House Hostel

The Review

Green House Hostel sits five kilometers away from Bariloche's center. The medium-sized residence is in good condition and is clean, with a relaxed atmosphere.

The Location

Green House Hostel is located five kilometers from Bariloche's city center and eighteen kilometers from Lago Perito Moreno and its surrounding attractions. Do not expect many services near Green House Hostel -- its situation in a residential neighborhood means you should be prepared for a twenty-minute bus ride (one-way) to the city center for all services. The hostel sits one-and-a-half blocks away from Avenida Bustillo, the major thoroughfare, which connects the city with the attractions surrounding Lago Perito Moreno.

Rooms and Bathrooms

The eight-bed, mixed dormitories feature triple-decked beds, which makes entering and exiting the sleeping space quite inconvenient, and the dormitory feels crowded. Getting into bed takes some wriggling, as overhead space is minimal. This also increases the likelihood of getting kicked or bumped from the guest sleeping below your mattress. The hostel also offers double room with private bathroom, double room with shared bathroom, and four-bed female dormitory room. The rooms are clean.

Towel service is advertised, but not provided upon arrival during our stay. The shared bathroom has two toilets and two showers, and is located on the second floor. A shared bathroom with one toilet is situated next to the living room. The showers feature good water pressure and well-heated water. The showers are susceptible to sudden temperature changes if someone uses either the toilet or the shower while you are showering. There is space for you to hang your towel during your shower, but there is no space for your clean clothes. Bathrooms are clean.

Common Spaces

The hostel features a well-lit living area, filled with potted plants. The living room/dining room also features four tables for eating. The exterior has a wooden deck, chairs, some lawn space, and a BBQ. Wi-Fi connection speeds are three megabits per second and there is a laptop provided for internet use. An upstairs Wi-Fi network and a downstairs Wi-Fi network are available. The kitchen is fully equipped, with every standard kitchen utensil available; the breakfast provided is small slices of toasted bread with butter and cereal. Storage space is available for food. Beer is available on tap for a price. Laundry service is also provided for a fee.

Green House Hostel offers a fine stay in Bariloche. Its shared facilities are all in functional condition, and the hostel is kept clean by its staff. The atmosphere is relaxed, and it is visited by travelers of all age groups.

Homey ranch on the outskirts!
The best hostels are the ones that make you feel at home. About to check out after 9 days in total, and everyone who comes here seems to arrive an leave smiling. Great place to meet people, the hosts working here (Brian, Chino & Santiago) are excellent chilled out fellas. The location is perfect just outside town as well, staying in Bariloche city itself would defeat the purpose of coming to this beautiful relaxed area. Book at least a few days to reap the benefits ...

Feels like home
Meanwhile it is three brothers who run this hostel, Brian, Willi and Tomas and T. is a great cook who prepares a delicious dinner every night. There is good music and videos in the evenings. They help you with every question even before you have uttered it. The view seems to have changed because of neighbour buildings but the rooms and bathrooms are nice. And I liked Otto, the dog and the kittens who play hide and seek with him.

Warm, friendly people; Clean and cozy accomodations. Awesome!
The Green House Hostel was such an excellent choice. The rooms have amazing views onto the Lake, the beds are super comfy, the bathrooms are clean and modern. The hostel has internet (for AR$1), TV, movie projector, books, pets to play with (Otto the Saint Bernard and Sasha the cat!), a really cozy interior, and most importantly, amazing people running it. Brian, Esteban, and Juan (Chino) were all super friendly and nice, and took the time to actually hang out and talk to us rather than just treating us like customers. We were friends. All around an excellent hostel. The kind that makes you wanna live there forever.
