Hostels in Chitwan, Nepal

Chitwan is a small town, situated just outside the Royal Chitwan National Park, in the south of Nepal. Most tourists that travel to Chitwan do so to visit the nearby national park, which is home to many monkeys, wild rhinos, and a small population of wild tigers.

This region is a bio-diverse jungle environment, which is hot and humid most of the year. If venturing out into the park, take enough water with you, as water stations and shops are scarce. In and around the Chitwan area, mosquitoes are often found to be a nuisance; it is recommended checking with your doctor or GP about anti-malarials and investing in a strong mosquito repellant.

The town of Chitwan has all the amenities and services, usually required by tourists. There is a wide selection of bars and restaurants, including a popular shisha (hookah) bar located in town; most of these establishments have a nightly happy hour and drink specials. There are also many souvenir shops, small supermarkets, many liqueur stores, a post office, laundry services, a number of tour agencies, and many accommodation options.

Accommodation options vary from hotel resorts, lodges, guesthouses and hostels in Chitwan. Hostels in Chitwan are usually found to be very accommodating, with all the necessary facilities. A complimentary breakfast is usually including in the price and there are usually a number of spacious common areas, including outside areas. A room with fans or an air-conditioned room is usually extra. Chitwan hostel staff can usually speak English and can help with advice about local tours, transport, and activities.

There are very few places in this world where you can come face to face with a wild rhino ... and survive! Chitwan is one of those places, and a trek into the national park, is not to be missed!
