Where to stay in Chalcidice on a budget

Looking for budget stays in Chalcidice? This section is designed to save you time, money, and unnecessary stress. We've got insider tips to help you find affordable hostels and the cheapest places to stay in Chalcidice.

Guess what? Chalcidice is also named Chalkidiki - It is the same destination. Goodbye confusion.

Halkidiki, a peninsula with a coast that's just over five hundred kilometers long, is on the mainland of Greece in the administrative region of Central Macedonia. Halkidiki is also one of seven regional districts of the Greek region of Central Macedonia. The capital of Halkidiki is Polygiros. Its territory includes the eponymous peninsula in the northwestern Aegean Sea, which resembles a hand with three fingers. The three fingers are Kassandra (its old name is Pallene Phlegra), Sithonia, and Agion Oros.

The monasteries of Mount Athos are outside the prefecture and are an autonomous component of the Greek state. Athos is a forested area in the north. It has the highest point on the peninsula -- Mount Athos, which is just over two thousand meters above sea level. Due to its special status as an autonomous monk republic, Athos is relatively unaffected environmentally. However, wildfires have destroyed a lot of natural areas. In the area of Chalkidiki, there are several islands. Only one is a resort and is permanently inhabited -- Amouliani, which is also the largest island of Halkidiki. However, it is not a major sea resort. Halkidiki offers a great chance to each traveler to discover the real Greece -- without many tourists, with local dances, food, drinks, and hope for future recovery after the economic crisis.

Halkidiki hostels are relatively low in number, so you won't find too many of them. However, Halkidiki hostels have the advantage of being relatively inexpensive, with good conditions for guests, and with a location that's quite close to the beach. That is due to the fact that the Halkidiki region attracts many local and foreign tourists during the hot summer season even during the financial crisis. There are interesting places to visit in the region, so finding a Halkidiki hostel with a more central location so that you can visit more places could be helpful.
