"The best thing and the worst thing about this YHA hostel is its location – from the rooms there is a magnificent view of the Matterhorn, the valley and the village of Zermatt. But it is a bit of a walk to get to the hostel. Since no cars are allowed in Zermatt, you'll most likely be coming by train. To get to the hostel, walk along the main street, turn left at the church, cross the Matter Vispa river, take the second right (past the après-ski bars), head up the hill and the hostel is in...
"The location of this hostel is beautiful. As you look out the bedroom window, you can see the sun shining on the Matterhorn. The management, under Paul, were so friendly and helpful. My friend and I (seniors) have stayed here four times. Loved it!" … "Whatever issues the booking may have, the lady at the front desk is great. I forgot my wedding ring in the bathroom, and they're mailing it to me. That's great service and saves me a beating from my wife." … "Good value, friendly...

The German for dormitory is "matratzenlager" or literally mattress camp - and having been here I now know why. The loft itself is fine if there are few people staying however if it is full, on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night, then it...

It's spectacular. You can ski across the border to Italy and back for a great day out.

The main reasons people come to Zermatt are for the Matterhorn and the skiing. There are great views of the Matterhorn and other mountains from the town (and better views from Kleine Matterhorn and Gornergrat) and most of the skiing is in the difficult range.
