4  Cosy, home-style hostel In Old Shoes is a very tiny hostel -- the whole place is really only the size of an average apartment. The rooms are a good size though, and each bed in the dorm has a reading light and a small shelf. The lower bunks have curtains for privacy. The down side is the beds are pretty creaky - every time you move an inch the person sleeping above or below knows about it! I stayed there in July 2010 and the owner was fairly new, so perhaps things have changed since the above reviewers stayed. I found the whole place exceptionally clean, though there was definitely a queue for the toilet and bathroom. There is a guest kitchen -- it's fairly basic but fit for the purpose. A major plus is the location -- very central and easy walking distance from the bus and train station. It's cheap for a dorm bed (10euro when I stayed) and definitely worth the money.  , UK ()
5  Great! very comfortable and friendly Had a chance to stay there in summer of 2007 when they just opened, it was a great choice. Feels like you're staying in an apartment. It's a great location, and the staff is very friendly too. Also it's definitely worth the price. Only negative was that the internet was kinda slow. Overall though a wonderful hostel.  , U.S.A. ()
1  Poor, Dirty, and overly expensive!! This is not a hostel in the conventional sense but rather a small apartment rented out to the owners who have put lots of beds into the rooms. As it is a rented apartment they have invested little to make it into a hostel. There is only one bathroom for all guests and the bathroom is unhygenic -- not a flush toilet, and with mold growing all over. you are asked to clean up the water from the shower (no shower curtain!) with a filthy black mop. no toilet paper provided. No evidence of daily cleaning. Our beds were terrible -- sprung lumpy mattresses. The owners have no office or reception area so sit all day in the kitchen on the guest internet (though they will let you on if you ask). All of this for such a price?! Not worth it and not recommended -- there are many other options in Belgrade!  , UK ()
