Scott's place is more than a place to stay, it is a place to acquire information and meet good, like-minded people. It is fair value for the cost of lodging but also quite secure and friendly. There is a small area inside the gate for bicycles and we have even parked motorcycles in there at times. If you are backpacking when you arrive in Santiago then this should be your first stop, for a safe place, a good sleep, good atmosphere, and an excellent opportunity to get your bearings before heading on. Scott is also exceptionally helpful with guidance via email. Perhaps the place should be called "Saint Scott's Place."
