The Hostelz.com Review
Peachy Guesthouse is a large establishment with three dormitory rooms. The rest are singles, doubles and triples. Unfortunately the owners could do with a few lessons in politeness. Sure some tourists can be trying, but it's almost like you've personally offended them by arriving at the Peachy Guesthouse. Obviously I'm not recommending this place.

The rooms have no personal touches or character. They're grouped around one side of the common courtyard which includes the reception and a café/restaurant with a few plastic tables. All the rooms are upstairs (no shoes) along a long, narrow corridor. On the courtyard side there's a lot of light and air. The other side can be a bit dim and gloomy. The dorm rooms are large with 5 bedsteads and even mattresses on the floor. None of the mattresses were being used by anyone but I wondered if they sold these when the beds filled up. They also just gave me the key and indicated the stairs without escorting me to the room. I always find this a little inhospitable and the dorm was actually hard to find as it is the very last room and the number on the key was unclear.

There's a restaurant, internet café, and TV lounge but it all looks dilapidated and a bit unfriendly. Especially as you have to sit near the reception to watch the television. The internet is one of the cheapest in Bangkok at just 0.5 Baht per minute, but the guy overseeing the internet room seemed to be always dozing and half asleep.

Anytime I needed anything I had to talk to this older lady who spoke almost no English who was reasonably friendly who would then try to find the lady who did speak English who was really unhelpful. In the end I gave up asking them anything. I didn't get the impression anyone much hung out here at anytime of the day. I spent my evenings at nearby restaurants watching the DVD and VCD movies.

4 I love it
Well, I have stayed there many times. I love the large, spacious big windowed, airy high ceilinged rooms. I especially love the staff (who actually live in the hotel) who are really friendly when they get to know you. Yes the noise from the downstairs bar can be a bit annoying as they work until 1 a.m. (but I liked their music choice and put ear-plugs in and dealt with it). I lived there for three months! Although the court yard facing rooms are the noisiest (the bar courtyard) they are the nicest in terms of light and view (of trees at the local army barracks whatever it is). The shared bathrooms can be a bit yuck at times -- they are cleaned, but not always in time for your shower. I would also like to mention that this is a safe, almost homey hotel with nice staff and I really, it is the best deal in the area. Just make sure you get a room facing the courtyard.

5 Excellent
Great location, great price. When I hit Bangkok for a night all I want is a clean place to leave my bag while I explore the city -- Peachy is it. Right next to Chao Praya River, a colonial style courtyard. yes it's basic, that's why it's so damn cheap. friendly people, clean bathrooms. Name another modern Asian city where you can stay for $3 a night. Also away from the madness of Ko San.

5 It was my home away from home
I lived and worked from Bangkok for eleven years. I remember the days before the british invasion of '92. I love Nai and her staff, they were and are my sisters.

5 It's great.
I'm clearly going against the trend, but I love Peachy. Obviously, a big part of that is because I'm on a budget. But almost all of the complaints I've heard could be made about virtually every "budget" guest house in the Khao San area. Sparse rooms without decorations? A little grime? Seriously? Have you all stayed anywhere else in the area that's better? If you did, I'm sure you paid a lot more than 80 THB a night. The staff is always super helpful. Yeah, they're a bit brusk at first, but they warm up and give great advice about which buses to take around the city, where to go. And as for getting your stuff stolen -- that happens, no matter where you stay. It's a reality of traveling in a region where there are a lot of people in truly desperate economic circumstances. Anyway, I stay at Peachy every time I'm in Bangkok -- I'm there a lot and I'm going to keep going back.

1 Enchanting
Dont get me wrong, I've stayed there four times in the course of coming and going from Bangkok, but I take the room because of its dirt cheap price and sleep on my laundry on the floor. I'm just not to keen on bedbugs. The last time I was there they hooked me up with a bus company which ended up robbing each passenger and dumping us six hours away from our intended destination. But lets be real, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't make a beeline for Peachy Guest House the next time I'm in BKK, I'm just a stingy traveler.

5 Love it!
I've been traveling now a few times to Thailand and i always stay in Peachy Guesthouse. It's not a five-star hotel and the rooms look like a prison but it's clean, cheap, and friendly. Never had a problem and it's a bit away from the noisy khao san. You can get up in the morning, cross the street, and have a nice little boatride down the river -- i liked that one. If you're looking for budget, it's the best place you can find in that area.

1 No security
this place is one of the most spaciest and quiet guest houses in the area. However my stay was marred by my room being broken into and camera and passport being stolen, despite the guard at the bottom of the stairs. The staff were completely uninterested and refused to help me contact the police. I later discovered that there had been numerous break-ins over the previous few months. I should have taken the hint at all the signs saying they take no responsibility for things stolen from rooms.

5 Fantastic
When in Bangkok, I will always stay in Peachy. it has so much to offer -- the noisy chinese in the bar, rooms with absolutely nothing apart of beds and fans, common bathrooms with cold water, and even windows in your shower. But how can you resist Peachy? the price is not low, it is absolutely cheapest possible. If you go to Bangkok and want something cheap, only Peachy! You won't regret and you will think about it often!

4 We stayed several times here, and we are happy with it. It's a cheap place, for a double with aircon and bathroom we paid 400 baht during our last visit (august 2006). A quiet place, and centrally located, and very safe -- there's always someone at the reception desk. The only thing I regret is that there isn't a email account to make a reservation (handy when arriving late night). But then before my last visit I phoned, and they kept a room for us! I have no problems at all with the people working there, they are very helpful! Maybe not always in a talkative mood, but how people react also depend a lot on our own behaviour! We'll hope to stay there again this summer.

5 Beloved Peachy Guesthouse! You just come back here because you are getting used to it. As one comment said either you hate or love it. Me love it. The people getting friendlier when they recognize you coming back. And yes the grumpy lady in the night shifts can be polite as well! One triple room, the last one at the second story isnt that good, when you dont like heavy basses till 1 in the night. thanks to the New Moonshine Bar and the karaoke bar. But at the End, The cheapest and nicest place in banglampoo for me.

1 The Peachy Guesthouse is a noisy, poorly equipped dump. I got stuck there twice, five years apart when I arrived in Bangkok late and nothing else was available. In both cases, I left the very next day. Even by Kao San Road standards, this place is awful.

4 I liked it a lot. After having sampled many guesthouses in the area, some fancier than others, here I felt at ease. It's not the most elaborate guesthouse, but you feel at home, and the smiling ladies at the front desk were very helpful. I often left jewlery in my room and never missed a thing -- and that is rare. I will definitely stay there on my next trip to bangkok.

4 The peachy guesthouse is one of those places that you either love or hate. For me and my husband, it was just the right base for our explorations of Bangkok and eventually Thailand. The staff were very helpful and friendly. For what you pay, you get good value, good air-conditioning, clean rooms, and looked-after toilets and showers. It's a perfect place for the budget traveler after a day of exploration of hot, humid Krungthep. It is quite unusual to find tourists just sitting on their asses the whole day, but I guess couch potatoes remain as they are even when they travel. The staff at the Peachy may seem unfriendly at first but they have to, budget travelers are usually not the friendliest of tourists especially when they are trying to look out for their money. We found that leaving bulk of our baggage behind at the Peachy Guesthouse is the safest alternative while travelling. And they look after them quite well, nothing amiss, even an extra toilet roll. :) Even if we could afford better accommodations now (we've graduated from university), we'll still make it a point to visit Peachy Guesthouse. I hope to see the Peachy staff soon!

Peachy Guesthouse Comment Reply: This is second times for visit this web page. The first time I saw comment about my staff. Yes I have 2 ladies in the morning at the reception counter. They not speak much English because they were teacher before and they too old they can not work more than 9 hours. That means we put them in the morning shift. After 12:00 pm we have more staff and can talk with customers and make a good service for them. We apologize for that. My owner he pay not much wage. But everyone loves Peachy and honest with our job this a 2 home of us. Low or high wage we don't need to steal from the customer.

3 This is a very cheap place to stay with air-conditioning. The rooms have nothing to them and I would recommend having your own sleeping bag. It's worth it if you are travelling on a budget.
