The Hostelz.com Review
This hostel consists of two parts, the building and the ship. So you can choose in which you want to stay. The ship is one of Stockholm sights, so you can be proud to stay there. The hostel is located in the center of the city, just opposite Gamla Stan island (Old Town). When you enter Skeppsholmen island, you see the ship. The reception is in the building 20 meters from the ship. The closest metro station is Kungstragarden.

The hostel looks new, as if it was recently renovated. The rooms are very clean and spacious. There are personal wardrobes which can be located (locks are available at the reception desk for a fee). The doors close automatically, sp remember to always bring the hostel card (key). In most of the rooms there are the sinks only, not toilets. The toilets and showers are clean, with paper towels and liquid soap always available.

The kitchen is perfect, with huge amount of crockery and a big dining room. If you don't like cooking, you can buy the food and drinks at the reception.

This hostel is a unique place to stay. If you live in the building, it's highly recommended to visit the ship, it's like a small museum!

excellent location, too expensive, very small rooms
In May 2007, I stayed in the house for one night only. The boat was out of function. It was three beds room, more than small -- it serves only to spend a night there. It's on the best place in the city, clean, the toilets with soap and paper hand towels. but in the showers there was no soap, so you have to bring your own. The showers are nice though and the staff was friendly. The bad thing is that you can check in only at 3 p.m. and you have to check out at 11 a.m. You have to pay extra for everything, bed linen, pads for lockers, breakfast, internet costs 1.1EUR for ten minutes, 6.6EUR extra if you are not a member. the linen is too expensive but I believe that it's the same with all the hostels in Stockholm, so this one might be of reasonable price since it's not bad and its location is perfect. Depends on what you expect from a hostel. I needed only a place to spend a night, so it was ok.

One of the most unique hostels I stayed at. We stayed on the ship and it was really fun. Stockholm was the most beautiful city I have ever seen and the girls were, well, swedish. Go to Stockholm and stay at this hostel.

This is such a brilliant hostel -- the staff are friendly and go out of their way to help you, it's clean and homey and the views and location are excellent. I stayed on the ship last year and I'm going back again in a few weeks, this time staying in the building. Personally I didn't see any spiders on the ship and I found it a great experience to wake up with water just below the porthole outside. It was very comfy too and storage space wasn't a problem.

I stayed in this hostel in April 2005. It was a great hostel. I spent the second night on the second floor in a room for two and I had a perfect view. I could see Gamla Stan by night with a lot of lights and it was great. I had a great time in this hostel and I hope to have the opportunity to visit it next time.

Well located, but the hostel is not really great. There were poor bathroom facilities on the boat, and not really good facilities in the house. Very loud hostel. Friendly staff and good breakfast buffet.

I'm a bit older now but I stayed on the ship in 1997 and will never forget it. It was a wonderful experience to be aboard a majestic vessel, which overlooked beautiful downtown Stockholm. The spiders on the ship were huge but didn't bother me. Still, if you sleep on a top bunk in one of the cabins you will probably be only a couple feet from some gigantic arachnid. Not for the faint of heart.

We stayed on the boat for two nights and our impression of it is excellent. Staying on the boat is better than staying in the house, because you feel like a sailor. It's wonderful to wake up and see the sea. I recommend this place. It's the best hostel I've stayed in.

The AF Chapman has perhaps the best hostel location I've ever seen. For this category it would be banal talking only about cleanness, breakfast, the kindness of the staff and so on, even if also in these categories the Chapman is very good. Just spend some hours at night on the bridge, looking at Gamla Stam full of lights, and you'll love this place forever.

This was a really excellent hostel. It is centrally located and has really good views of Stockholm from the ship. We stayed on the boat in an eight-bed dorm, and I would recommend sleeping here if you can. There's a lock-out, but they're pretty laid-back about it. Breakfast is pricey, but the kitchen is really well-equipped. There's a snooker table, books, a bar, a shop and a big TV! It's great (and so is Stockholm!).

It's in a nice location, and is a fun accommodation, but there were spiders as big as a fist! I stayed there a few years back, so I hope it has improved.

I stayed on both the ship and in the house. I got to be in a dorm room on shore, but ended up the first night in a one-person hut on top of the ship. The quality of those huts is very bad. You have to sleep on a 1.5-meter-high cabinet, there are cracks in the door, and during the night ants invaded the place. Though I must say that the staff were very helpful after I reported the incident, and they immediately arranged a four-bed room for me in the house. That room was of excellent quality, and the sanitary facilities were also better. The other rooms on the ship (which are all below-deck) are better than the huts above deck. The hostel is also a good meeting place, and the location is great! Overall, I would certainly recommend it (book in advance, this place is popular). But watch out if you get placed in a one-person cabin on the ship!

I liked it here. You can stay on the boat which look fun but my room was in the house section. It was social with a big kitchen and internet access. It's very nicely located in a beautiful area. I recommend it.
