Neot Hakikar (Neʼot HaKikar), Israel, is situated in a quiet, remote part of Israel, adjacent to the Jordanian border. The settlement was founded in the mid-twentieth century; nowadays around four hundred twenty people permanently live there.

Interesting is the geographical location -- the village is located more than three hundred fifty metres below sea level, south of the internationally well known Dead Sea. This salt lake covers an area of currently over six hundred square kilometres; however, it is receding at a very dangerous level. The authorities try to stabilize the current water level by using numerous pipes and canals. The Dead Sea region is also renowned for health treatments and research. It is one of the biggest natural attractions in Israel as well.

Neot HaKikar is a good starting point to explore the region around the Dead Sea, the southern part in particular. It is a bit remote and therefore a good retreat for tourists looking for some relaxation and outdoor activities. However, it is not recommendable to visit the area in midsummer. The temperature is just too high and can become really dangerous if you want do some activities such as hiking. One of the local sights is Ein Plutit. The salt-water spring is a bit hidden behind the trees and bushes. However, it is worth having a look and going for a dip. You can also explore by jeep to get a completely different impression of the region.

The village was also the setting for one of the worst natural disasters in the history of the country. After heavy rains, massive rocks broke off from an overhanging cliff, destroying the canteen of the military base nearby and killing twenty people.
