Description

RIGHT AT THE BORDER OF CORCOVADO NATIONAL PARK

If you want to be immersed in nature, this is the place to do it! With many waterfalls and beautiful ocean views, Bolita is a semi-sustainable hostel on over 61 hectares of rainforest in the Golfo Dulce Forest Reserve. It's bordered on one side by the beautiful Rio Tigre, and on the other side by Corcovado National Park, one of the most bio-diverse places on earth! We are nestled in Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula, next to the small gold mining village of Dos Brazos de Rio Tigre.

HIKING TRAILS
Make no mistake, the trails are what will make your visit to BOLITA unforgettable. The 15 kilometers of trails that meander through 61 plus hectares of rain forest, will take you through various elevations of primary and secondary forest. You pass by four creeks that run through the property, numerous waterfalls, various spots with fantastic ocean views, as well as the beautiful Rio Tigre, which skirts BOLITA for two kilometers. Because of the bio-diversity of habitat, it's a great area for spotting much of the flora and fauna that exist in this amazing place.

ACCOMMODATIONS AND KITCHEN
Stay in the original rustic farmhouse, and cook your own food in the newly updated kitchen, supplied with fresh spring fed drinking water! Our water source originates on the Bolita property, and is captured as it exits the rocks.

Dorm style beds with all bedding and mosquito nets, are located on the second floor of the house, which includes one double private room. On the ground floor, is the kitchen, hammocks for relaxing, and a palm leaf roofed picnic table for dining. You may also stay in a private tent with foam mattress and bedding. All for $12 pp/n. Includes use of the trails..

Location and Contact

Location

• FROM SAN JOSE TO PUERTO JIMENEZ
• Puerto Jimenez is the largest town in the Osa Peninsula. Unless you are driving, you'll need to get there first to take a connection bus to Dos Brazos.
• BY AIR: Both Sansa and Nature Air have multiple daily flights to Puerto Jimenez for around $110, and take 45 minutes. You can check websites at flysansa.com and natureair.com for schedules and fares.
• BY BUS: Buses leave from the "Lobo Blanco" bus stop daily at 8 a.m. and 12 noon. Cost is about $8 US and takes eight to nine hours. "Lobo Blanco is located on calle 12, between avenidas 7 and 9, in downtown San Jose. You can get downtown from the airport by public bus or by Taxi. By bus, turn left out of the airport doors, walk down the ramp to the street, turn right, and walk 40 meters to the bus stop. Once in downtown San Jose, you can either walk the 6 blocks to Lobo Blanco bus terminal, or take a taxi for about $3 US.
• FROM PASO CANOAS OR GOLFITO
• If you're coming from Panama and crossing the border at Paso Canoas, take the yellow and green Golifinero bus to Golfito. It runs about every 1.5 hours from a bus station just across from the Costa Rica border crossing. (Make sure when you are checking the schedule you are looking at Costa Rican time since Panama is one hour ahead of Costa Rica) The trip takes about 2 hours, and costs $2 US. In Golfito, exit the bus at the "Lancha" (ferry) to Puerto Jimenez. The ferry runs every couple of hours during the day, takes 1/2 hour, and costs $6 US.
• FROM PUERTO JIMENEZ TO DOS BRAZOS

• Once you are in Dos Brazos, follow the signs to the office, which is a 7 minute walk from the bus stop. We will check you in, orient you, and send you on your way for the beautiful, but slightly aggressive 30 minute hike through the rainforest, up to Bolita. You're welcome to leave extra packs at the office during your stay. Night arrival is not recommended. BRING YOUR FOOD AND A FLASHLIGHT!
