Get to know Victoria Falls (no more "I wish I knew this before")

This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Victoria Falls.

We all come to Victoria Falls for the same reason -- to visit its namesake, of course! Words cannot describe the sheer beauty and enormity of Victoria Falls. No trip to Southern Africa would be complete without experiencing this wonder of the world. However, Victoria Falls’ adrenalin-pumping activities and the quality of Victoria Falls hostels mean that you should account for at least a few days in this small Zimbabwean town.

For pretty obvious reasons, the main attraction here is the Victoria Falls. However, given the town’s location -- more than two kilometers from the Falls, you’ll want to ensure your Victoria Falls hostel is located within the town centre. Your Victoria Falls hostel will help you organise transport to and from the Falls, with many taxis offering cheap and efficient services. Once at the Falls, be prepared for all your senses to be entirely overwhelmed. Each season has its perks, whether its the gushing waters of the rainy season or the tranquil beauty of the gauges in dry season. To really appreciate the Falls, plan on spending a day-trip to the Zambian side of the Falls; the border is simply a few steps from the Falls entrance. Most nationalities can receive a Visa-on-Arrival. If your budget permits, a visit to the Devil’s Pool and Livingstone Island allows for one of the most memorable experiences available at Victoria Falls! Visitors are transported to a private natural rock pool situated right on the Falls' edge.

Once you're done seeing the Falls, don’t rush out of Victoria Falls too quickly. Your Victoria Falls hostel will be able to link you up with some of the most exciting activities in Africa. White-water rafting, bungee jumping, scenic flights, and elephant rides are all easily available from Victoria Falls. The best part of all, these exhilarating activities usually involve the backdrop of the Falls or the mighty Zambezi River. Your Victoria Falls hostel will also be able to link you up with safari options, be it within Zimbabwe or to neighbouring Botswana or Zambia.

Victoria Falls dorms are available all year round, but due to the high concentration of visitors, early bookings are recommended. Whilst the Falls themselves are certainly a world wonder, do not make the mistake of not leaving enough time for some of the fantastic and unique activities on offer in Victoria Falls!
