Get to know Costa da Caparica (no more "I wish I knew this before")

This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Costa da Caparica.

Costa da Caparica is a small city in Almada district, twenty minutes' ride from the city center of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. Costa (as most people call it) is well known for the amazing and not-so-crowded beaches and very good restaurants (mostly known for the grilled fresh fish and shellfish) and cafes with amazing views of the ocean. To reach Costa from Lisbon you have to cross the River Tejo, but it's quite easy because you have direct buses from different locations in Lisbon (every trip takes around thirty minutes), or you can take the boat from Lisbon to the other margin of the river, and then catch a bus to Costa. If you are coming from another country, you can land in Lisbon, stay in Lisbon for a few days, and then stay in Costa for some nice days on the beach.

In the Costa area, the beaches are quite big, with a lot of space in the sand to put your towel -- you can enjoy the quietness to relax a little bit, or play some beach football or volleyball with your friends. Costa is also well known for the good waves to surf, so why not to take on some adventure in the sea and try to catch some waves? If it's your first time, don't you worry -- there are a lot of surf schools that that give classes and rent the material. You can also go shopping. At night, you will have your choice of a lot of cafes, restaurants, bars, and discos -- choose the one you like, depending on your budget and what do you want to do. You will also find choices for hostels in Costa da Caparica; in busy seasons we recommend you book in advance.
