Praia de Carcavelos is also known for body boarding and surfing -- many locals as well as foreigners train here. So what should you do if you want something else than sun, beaches, surfing, and wine? It is pretty simple -- you can take a bus and go to Lisbon, as the capital of Portugal is just twelve kilometers from Carcavelos and there are excellent public transport connections. If you are traveling in a group, it can be even cheaper to take a taxi as most taxi companies are not very expensive.
Carcavelos is not as famous a destination as the other resorts near it, but it still attracts a good number of tourists, especially in the hot summer season.
