Bonne Guesthouse

Nice stay
A nice, clean, brightly-coloured hostel with friendly staff. I stayed in a 6 bed girls dorm which was clean and quite spacious ... Unfortunately there weren't any other people staying in my room -- I stayed in October, which is a less busy month. The communal area is also the hostel's cafe, which is a good place to meet other people staying there. I'm traveling alone and felt quite safe walking around the area, and the hostel felt secure. One slight downside was that the two ladies are a little forceful with tours and eating in their cafe. Apart from that, they're very friendly!
Good value but noisy
The new hostel is very nice -- brand new, spacious, cheap -- and the service is as before (strange, excessive, intense, but always affectionate and true) but the hostel is very, very noisy. It's not a party place, the noise comes from the fact that you can't close the windows, there's a loud rooster next door, the employees scream and laugh and tell jokes from room to room in the morning ... but it's cheap and spacious!
The best part of this hostel was the cleanliness. Spotless! The food and drink available on site is very overpriced, and the owner flits between being extremely friendly to rather grumpy, but overall a good place to stay.

Home away from home!
Very clean and friendly environment to stay in! The rooms and bathrooms are colorful and spotless, and the beds are comfortable. Best of all, the staff are really friendly. I came back after a week and was welcomed like family. Great place!
Cleaner than nearly all hostels I have stayed in Western Europe, the Green Tulip house tops my list of hostels in Thailand and possibly Asia. The restaurant has abundant and delicious menu choices, both Thai and western. The staff are outstanding and if there is anything you need, just ask. Also, be sure to book all activities directly through the hostel in order to receive a discount. They book treks to the tribal villages in small groups but yet still at a very reasonable price. I went on a two day trek and only wished I'd had enough time for three days. One minor drawback worth mentioning though is the traffic noise, but late at night things quiet down for the most part. Nonetheless I still wouldn't hesitate to give this hostel a solid five stars. I would strongly recommend.
Best hostel I've ever stayed at!
This place is great! The staff are friendly and so helpful. They helped us plan our treks and other events. The restaurant was great!
This is by far one of the best hostels I've ever stayed in my travels across the world. This was my first visit in Chiang Mai, and in Thailand alone, so I was a bit nervous about how my vacation would be spent. I only had five days in the city before I had to take off, but it was some of the best, most relaxing five days I've ever had. Nine, Stella, and everyone who works there made me feel right at home from the moment I walked in to the Green Tulip. They showed me my room, got some delicious red curry into me and helped me figure out the best way to spend my vacation in Chiang Mai. Starting from the looks alone, this is one of the most gorgeous hostel's I've been in. Bright colors everywhere, wide wooden tables in the lobby/restaurant, beautiful wooden floors in the rooms, a nice terrace to sit out on. It's well-kept, always clean and bright and fresh. Such a nice place to come back to after a long day of trekking and adventuring. The food as well is unbeatable. Fairly good prices, a nice variety of both Thai and Western, and the chef always comes out to make sure you enjoyed it all. Made me feel like I was back home with my mom. Nine's got a bundle of adventuring booklets and makes you do your homework (though she helps you out a lot as well), and it's pretty easy to find the right tour for you. Not to mention that by staying at the Green Tulip, you get a great discount on everything that you do -- whether it be going to the jungle or watching a Thai boxing match, it's always cheaper booking through them. I just can't say enough. It's a great deal, not that expensive, good food, amazing people -- everyone I saw there was happy to be at home in the Green Tulip. And the best part is, you're in Chiang Mai, which has got to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Enjoy everyone.
