Nice hostel
The Czech Inn is a really nice hostel in a convenient location not far from most of the attractions. This place really did feel more like a hotel, but for a hostel price. However it wasn't as social as I would have liked, especially coming as a solo traveler.
Safe Place
The only problem is that they do not have any kitchen.
The WIFI is good. good locker facilities. The card sign in for the lift sucked.
Nice place to meet new people!
A bit noisy, but helpful staff
There's a lot about the Czech Inn that's noisy -- the room doors, the clunkily locking en-suite bathroom doors, even the plumbing. There's also a bar downstairs, but if you're on the higher floors, it's not a real problem. I also didn't feel that one toilet (often monopolized by someone in the shower) was enough for 10 girls. There was an extra toilet in the hallway, but it was sometimes problematic finding available facilities. Security is good -- key cards for the doors, even the elevators and stairs, a locker for each bed, 24-hour reception. The staff was helpful and friendly. They arrange walking tours and such, give maps, and sell metro/bus tickets, which is really handy. The inside of the hostel feels a little institutional, but the building itself and the area are very pretty. There's a bar downstairs and a full (but relatively pricey) breakfast if you choose, plus a small snack cafe downstairs.
Seriously Good Place
First time I've stayed here but the 15 dorm bed deal on the site was too good to resist, seeing as the place has such a stellar reputation. Checked-in very efficiently and the guys behind the desk are always willing to assist in any way. Rooms are good although the shower beside us was locked for some reason. No kitchen either so lacks the classic 'backpacker vibe'. Security is very good as you can't access the lift without a key-card. The free internet is very helpful as is the travel card rental deal which offers great value of unlimited transport for 80Ck per day. Also, although the hostel is a little way out from the centre, there's a regular night-bus from I P Pavlova, so no problems there. The 'Piece-de-Resistance' though has to be the 'all-you-can-eat' breakfast which costs 120/110Kc but is the best I've ever come across in a hostel. For a hostel, the standard here is very high indeed.
6 stars ...
beautiful place, clean, lots of bathrooms, super comfortable beads, nice ambiance, excellent!
More luxurious than a hotel!
We stayed in an apartment at the Czech Inn, and I can honestly say it was more luxurious than a lot of hotels I have stayed in. A massive room, flat screen tv, walk in shower ... it was fantastic. The hostel is located in a lovely area, where probably the best and most appropriately priced restaurants are located. A tram can easily be caught to reach the city centre. The breakfast, although might seem expensive, is well worth it, as it is very convenient and there is plenty on offer. The majority of the staff are very helpful, some however are slightly reluctant and will ignore you unless you address them. All in all a very very good hostel, oh and the pub crawl is well worth it!
Amazing hostel and accommodating staff!
The Czech Inn staff was amazing and accommodating to an error in my part and gave me the lower rate which I was quoted. The Czech Inn is right on tram line 22, which hits most of the major attractions in the city. The Czech Inn has modern facilities, where you have to have a key card to ride the elevator, a caged and locked luggage room, and a cheap bar with a great happy hour special.
Great Hostel
This is one of those new flash hostels. Everything so modern and clean. Amazing beds. Cool bar where we met up with some great fellow travelers. Cheap drinks. There is a very cheap Chinese restaurant down the hill a bit. It is out of town a bit but if you look at many of the other hostels -- none are actually in town at all. It's a pretty easy tram ride to the centre anyway -- and one tram goes all the way up to the castle. Don't forget to get your daily tram ticket at the counter as many tourists get fined on the trams. There is a constant traffic noise from the road in front of the hostel -- both car and tram -- but you get used to it.
