East side of Vik looking from the hill top

Vík, Iceland, is one of the larger towns on the southern coast and a popular stop for people driving the Ring Road. It has a beautiful church up on top of the hill to which you can drive or walk, which overlooks the beachfront area and the town. It is a beautiful view and worth the trip. During the spring and summer months, the hills are covered in stunning, purple flowers and give the town a really pretty feel.

Your options for hostels in Vík, Iceland, are spread out in town; there is a Vík, Iceland hostel in the direction of the hills previously mentioned, and other Vík, Iceland hostels are down in the main town centre. The town itself has all of the major amenities that you may need during your stay including a bank, fuel station, and a supermarket. There are also a few restaurants and a pub. Next door to the pub and one of the hostels in Vík, Iceland, is an information centre where you can get information about what to do in the area.

One of the most popular things to do here in Vik is go to the Vik Wool shop and have a look at the quality winter wear there. Out back, they have a demonstration of how they weave some of the garments there. You can also hang out at the amazing, black-sand beach and marvel at the adjacent cliffs. If you have a car with you, it is worth a drive around the cliff face to the point at Dyrholaey. If you are lucky and there at the right time of day, there is a small puffin colony that lives along the cliffs here that you can visit for free. It is also worth a trip to Reynisfjara as well, they are both only about a fifteen-minute drive from the Vik town centre.
