HI - Beijing Jade Youth Hostel Reviews

No atmosphere at all but good location (if you can find it)

This is more of a budget hotel that has dorm rooms. The buffet breakfast is expensive and rubbish. There is no internet apart from wifi in the reception area. No one uses the common areas or bars or interacts with any other guests. There was a strange and unpleasant smell in our bathroom I mentioned it at reception and it was cleaned and the smell went away but was back a few hours later. There were no tours available however they do have maps and will give directions to the sights. My taxi driver has no idea where the hostel was and had to phone them 3 times before finding it down an alley. The dorm beds are very uncomfortable just a thin mattress on top of a sheet of plywood. The best thing about the hostel is that you can walk to the Forbidden city and Tiananmen Square. There is no other reason to stay there.

Amazing location, great price

This hostel is situated right in the heart of the action, a block from wangfujing, and two from Tiananmen and the forbidden city. Tours are the cheapest i have seen in china. and the airport pick up is reasonably priced. Rooms are clean and tidy, with in room lockers, has a quiet atmosphere at night and the staff are willing to help you no matter what the time, or what you need. Love the Jade, and plan to stay there again when I return next year.

I visited Jade in October of 2008 with a team of fourteen women. It was the perfect place for us to stay. Very convenient -- perfect walking area. They had our reservation a bit jacked, we were supposed to be all together, and they had other people with our group, but the staff made accommodations for it all. I would definitely go there again. Make sure you take a walk through the Hutong district! Wonderful food!

Clean and great hostel

I've been there for four days in July 2007 to see the city of Beijing. The hostel was very great! Our room was clean and big. Unfortunately the wardrobe was very small, for my circumstances too small. We also had a TV. The washing rooms have been totally clean -- the showers and the toilets. Perfect Hostel if you only want to stay at night and if you want to meet so many other people from so many other countries.

Very good place to go. Staff friendly and available, rooms clean, spacious and nice, hostel cheap, not noisy, and well located. Definitely a good hostel.

Good hostel, clean, good and warm showers, breakfast for 25 rmb, super location, two to three streets away from Forbidden city on walking distance, also shopping area is on walking distance. Also the travel service is very good and cheap -- 250 rmb for a whole day of the most oldest and difficult parts of the Great Wall plus transport. Next time I am definitely going back to this hostel.

It's really a great hostel! Important notice: If you want to take a taxi from the airport, make sure that you have a map with you so you can show the taxi driver where you want to go because a lot of drivers don't know this place! And don't pay more than seventy-five Yuan!

This is the nicest hostel I have stayed in -- anywhere -- ever -- period. I had no problem recommending this place over any number of hotels. I would stay here -- even alone -- without question. Choose a dorm room and hope for some cool roommates. If, on the other hand, you are traveling with anyone else -- you cannot even remotely hope to do better than this place. Immaculately clean, beautiful rooms, great food service, gorgeous lobby and meeting rooms, and all the bathroom grooming supplies you might expect at the Hilton. It literally looks like they spent millions on this place. Did I mention that you can walk to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square? You can see the wall enclosing the forbidden city just out the window. The path is through an ancient hutong that has probably been there since the Forbidden City was built.

On the downside, it's a little hard to find. Definitely take advantage of their offer on the airport pickup. Even the cab drivers can't usually find it. You need to get a nearby address on the main road and give that to the drivers.
