Excellent home away from home
We were a large group of 18 people who thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moana Lodge. It is spotlessly clean (can't remember the cleaning lady's name but she deserves a medal), with a great large open kitchen, comfortable beds and being the middle of winter we felt warm and snug in this home away from home. (even with electric blankets if we needed them). Sofie did an excellent job looking after us and we wanted for nothing. We thank all the staff for a wonderful, relaxed time.
Excellent home from home hostel
If you don't like it here, you probably don't belong in hostels. Friendly atmosphere from great people behind reception. Large kitchen to cook in with everything you need, a large dining room, and massive lounge all serve up the perfect place. Showers and rooms are spacious and clean. Ideal base to explore Wellington from. You'd be mad to sacrifice this for an inner-city hostel.
This place is heaven!!!! While attending the university in Auckland, I always made sure to visit Moana Lodge as often as I could. It's like staying at a friend's house, if that friend had a big beach house on the water with comfortable beds, nice cozy living areas and toilets that have starfish on them. My friend used the blow dryer in the bathroom and it gave my friend the best blow dry she had ever had...we had to take a picture! Next time I am in New Zealand, Moana Lodge is first stop on my list. (I happen to have a photo of myself leaving the place and it is the saddest look you will ever see.)
The best place we have stayed in so far! It's beautifully located by the sea (we had an amazing view from our room). It has an excellent kitchen and bathrooms; it felt more like someone's home than an anonymous hostel. The staff were really friendly and I can't think of a single thing wrong with it! Just make sure you book early.
what a wonderful hostel. It really was. It was suitable for all ages and needs. It was a welcome home from home, and I have never been more relaxed and untroubled at a hostel. It had loads of videos to choose from, a clean and well equipped kitchen and shops nearby. It was warm and comfortable with clean rooms and in a great location.
