If possible, try to conciliate your trip to Salvador with Carnival. Salvador da Bahia is known for having the best Carnival party (it's only bested by the amazing and famous carnival in Rio de Janeiro). The party of Carnival in Salvador happens on the main street, with live music shows, a lot of people dancing the samba and forro (the typical music of Brazil) and drinking until dawn –- if you like to party, you will love this, especially because it's during the summer. Another good time to visit this city is the New Year's Eve -- you will not regret it.
