Great Hostel with Great Staff!
This is one of the best hostels I have stayed in Europe. Not far from the shores of Lake Balaton in Revfulop, the hostel provides basic accommodation (with no breakfast) but if you just want a bed to crash for the night and only here for a day or two then the hostel is the ideal place to stay. The owners and staff really made me feel welcome, but what made it so special was the outside bar, to which a great meeting place to meet other backpackers. On certain nights the staff cooks all the guests Hungarian Goulash which is a cheap meal and goes down well with a local beer. They cook this over a proper stove so the end result is a really tasty meal. The hostel is not really that secure, I think anyone can walk in, unless there is a member of staff at the front door but I never really notice them. There is a shop next door to buy cheap food and drinks and a couple of fast food places across the road not too far from the lake. The train station is around 5-10 minute walk. Another local sight to see which is in walking distance of the hostel is the viewing tower which is located twenty to thirty minutes walk up the hill side. Here this is the place to get amazing views of the lake. The room I had with my traveling partner was quite small with two single beds which took up most of the floor space, but at least the view from the window looking up into the hills which overlooks the lake was excellent. I remember there wasn't much room on the floor to put my luggage somewhere or anything to hang up clothes. It was a basic small room, with the beds, and four white painted walls. It is shared bathrooms in this hostel, and everything was in working order and had no problems. One problem was that there was not many wash rooms, so if it is busy, you will be waiting for a while. At the end of the day, I enjoy my short stay here and would return if I was back in the area.
