Get to know Blackpool (no more "I wish I knew this before")

This section is dedicated to take away all your "I wish someone had told me that before I went!" experiences. This way, you can spend less time settling in, and more time making new friends in your chosen hostel. We share our insider knowledge of tips, tricks and important things to look out for in Blackpool.

Blackpool is a "cheesy" and popular English resort town located in the North West of England. Blackpool Tower, the Pleasure Beach theme park, Blackpool Pier, the Illuminations show, and the lively nightlife are what make this town so popular with local and international visitors.

The waterfront is where all the action is -- you'll find tacky souvenir shops, selling the famous, pink Blackpool rock and mildly offensive postcards; amusement arcades, with many "old-school" penny slot machines; as well as many fish and chip shops, pubs (public houses), restaurants, ice cream parlors, and fudge shops. A sandy beach can also be found in Blackpool, though the water tends to be cold year-round. The Pleasure Beach theme park is also located on the waterfront, and is home to the highest roller coast in the UK, the Pepis Max. There are also plenty of rides for younger children.

Bed and breakfasts (B&Bs) largely dominate the accommodation options in Blackpool, however there are still a few Blackpool hostel options available. Blackpool hostels provide private or dorm rooms, with either a shared or private bathroom. Complimentary breakfast is usually included in the price. Blackpool hostels tend to have large communal areas, with a social vibe, making it easy to meet other travelers. Some hostels in Blackpool also arrange nightly events, entertainment, and drink specials. If you're driving, it is worth checking with the hostel at time of booking whether there is complimentary car parking available, as parking in Blackpool can be quite expensive.

Whether visiting Blackpool with a group of friends, or with the family, there are plenty of activities in Blackpool to meet everyone’s interests.
