Guiyang, China, is a bustling city in the country's southwestern region, famous for its spicy food and the surrounding Karst landscape. This spectacular city is traveled less often by tourists, which gives it a special feel and lets everyone appreciate the true culture. Although the hostels in Guiyang, China, are few in comparison to more popular Chinese cities, there are plenty of places to stay and Guiyang, China hostels are very well priced.

Guiyang City is located on the Nanming River and has a busy city square with giant, golden bamboo stage. This area is frequented by groups of Tai Chi lovers practicing the ancient art amidst the buzz of the city. Be sure to check out the ancient Hongfu Temple to see an old remnant of the city contrasted with the giant, sky-rise buildings of modern times. There is plenty to explore in the city, especially the spicy hot pot restaurants, shopping, and book stores.

Another beautiful and unique part of the city is in Huaxi, home to Guizhou University. This area is filled with helpful, young college students as well as an older generation with vibrant culture. This can be seen in the outdoor markets, which are filled with produce, meat, and animals such as snakes and tarantulas. There are often groups of musicians practicing their traditional instruments in the parks. The most beautiful part of Huaxi can be found in the Wetlands Park, with bridges, scenic walkways, stone paths over water, water mills, flowers, and a peaceful feeling.

One of the most beautiful tourist destinations near Guiyang is the excitingly monkey-filled Qianling Mountain Park. After a pleasant walk up the mountain past lily ponds, artists, vendors, and beautiful scenery, you will reach the historic Buddhist monastery. Hold onto your food here, as monkeys will certainly try to steal it!

Another popular tourist destination near Guiyang is Huangguoshu Waterfall Park. Although the park is famous for its many massive waterfalls, tourists can also view peacocks, gardens, hundreds of Bonsai trees, and many scenic trails.

Tienhetan is a natural attraction that is more of a secret tourist destination. In this wonderland, the main attractions are the caves hidden in the mountains. The most popular option is to take small boats through stunning caves, while another option is to take a walking tour through caves that are lit with colored lights. Another attraction is the rickety Lovers Bridge, which crosses over the valley to the caves. Adventurers can also zip-line across the valley for very cheap.

To see ancient Chinese culture, make sure to check out the Qingyan ancient village and the Miao Village. Qingyan, an old shopping street, is surrounded by beautiful mountains. Here you can buy plenty of souvenirs and eat pigs' feet or other traditional snacks. The Miao Village, also known as the Thousand House Village, is a magnificent way to see the culture of one of the minority groups in China, the Miao people. The welcoming Miao people wearing stunning traditional dress welcoming visitors at the village gate with rice wine, and the beautiful houses inside the village alone are worth coming to China for.

Guiyang, Guizhou, is certainly one of the most beautiful and culturally rich cities in China, and should be on every traveler's itinerary!
