Ica Adventures 2 is an excellent and very well-priced accommodation choice for Ica, featuring a spacious, clean, and comfortable environment, plus an impressive complimentary breakfast.

The Location

The hostel is located slightly outside city centre, an affordable, five-minute moto-taxi ride from either the main plaza or bus terminal. Directly beneath the hostel is a small grocery, where you can buy basic necessities. For all other food and living items, the large department store Tottus is a ten-minute walk.

Though the neighbourhood directly outside the hostel’s doors doesn’t offer too much, most common shops -- including restaurants, pharmacies, laundries, and other general-goods shops -- can be found within a short walk.

Rooms and Bathrooms

Ica Adventures 2 contains multiple, varied room types. Dorms range have five to seven bunk beds per room, but even so, the rooms don’t feel overly cramped. All the dorms offer some space for either hanging or placing clothes and other personal items. The beds are very comfortable and fitted with quality bedding. Each bunk is made complete with its very own power outlet. Medium-sized lockers for valuables can be found downstairs outside the dorms.

Next to the lockers are the hostel’s three main bathrooms. Two are private, with their own sink, shower, and toilet; the third is a shared space with three showers, sink, and toilet. The bathrooms are kept impressively clean, giving the white rooms a particularly brilliant shine. Extra-large garbage bins make for an added touch of luxury. Not all the washrooms bestow hot water, but the pressure is good. Towels are provided for a fee.

Common Spaces

Ica Adventures 2 was made with amazing common spaces in mind. Reception, with its mirrored walls, provides comfy seating while dealing with the friendly and helpful staff. Upstairs, guests find a terrace with relaxed lawn-chair seating.

One more level up is the bar, which features no fewer than seven flat-screen TVs playing blockbusters like "King Kong" throughout the day. Beyond the bar is the shared kitchen, a rather large space with a good deal of cooking gear. The particularly nice complimentary breakfast begins at 9 a.m. and consists of coffee, tea, bread, cereal, eggs, and a fried vegetable and sausage mix.

At 10 p.m., the kitchen closes, the bar opens, and the party starts. To keep guests entertained, this space also includes the classic foosball and ping-pong table combo.

One more level above and guests find themselves in perhaps the most chill location the hostel has to offer -- a more intimate terrace complete with comfy couches, coffee tables, and multiple board games.

Summary

Ica Adventures 2 succeeds in accommodating the modern backpacker. The hostel is spacious, comfortable, and clean, with solid Wi-Fi and multiple power outlets. The opportunity to party is here, but it’s not a “party hostel” by any means. Staff are gracious and will go out of their way to make your stay extra special. Be aware that Spanish is the primary spoken language, though the owner also speaks English.
